That's made by Sharp and many of theirs (and other brands) require you to take the outer cover off to change the bulb. Here's how: Unplug the oven first. That's rule one! Remove all of the screws from the side and back of the outer wrapper / cover of the microwave. There are usually four on the rear edges and two on the bottom of the edges on each side of the cover. The cover then should be slid slightly backward then up from the rear and it will slide off. You may have to pat down on the sides to loosen it first. I use firm and simultaneous open-palmed slaps on both sides near the front, then pull it up and off. It is possible that some voltage will remain on the high voltage capacitor and can be conducted via contact with wires, connectors and components connected to it. If you stay away from all the wiring in the right rear (as you're looking at the front door) it should not be a problem. Unless there is a problem, the voltage should actually not be present. If you and the work area are clean and dry, and you only touch the light bulb while the cover is off, there should be no problem. Change the bulb. It may be held in with a bit of clear tape, too, so take a look at the socket first. When putting it back on, be careful that the inside front edges of the cover catch properly in the slots in the chassis. Good luck and be safe! Make sure it is unplugged!

I must also mention to be careful while the cover is off and with the cover itself - the edges are sharp.

Sorry I didn't get notified that you had posted a follow-up. I'll be sure to look in the future.

I think you'd just have to take your old bulb out and look at it.

It should be a standard cylindrical appliance bulb about 15-40W, but if in doubt, take it with you by all means.

You should be able to find them in grocery stores and stores like Wal-Mart.

I need to change the interior light bulb in my Frigidaire over the counter microwave. The model # is FMV156DCA.

Good Morning Evelyn, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

Here are some simple troubleshooting tips to help replace the light bulb on your Frigidaire microwave, FMV156DCA.

·First, disconnect power to your microwave. This can be done by either unplugging it or at the circuit breaker panel.
·To release cover, remove the screw on the light cover (light cover may become very hot, do not touch glass when light is on).
·Remove old light bulb and replace only with equivalent watt bulb available from parts distributor or the manufacturer directly. Bulbs are also available at most hardware stores or lighting centers. Bulbs larger than 30 watts are NOT recommended.
·Close light cover and secure with screw removed in step 2.

I hope this information proves to be helpful. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reconnect.

Can't figure out how to replace light bulb for model #721.66319

Sears Parts Direct lists the microwave, 72166319500 , as using the lamp, 6912W3B002L. This is available for $6.49 here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-72166319500/0582/0123245/50026833/00004?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= .

Unplug the microwave and wait a bit before starting to replace the bulb. To change the bulb, you first need to take off the entire cabinet (remove 4 screws on the back of the microwave and lift the part up). Then see the parts diagram on the page given above. There are 2 screws that hold the switch and bulb assembly to the frame of the microwave. I believe you should be able to pull the bulb housing down from the middle of the assembly and then push the unit up after replacing the old bulb with the new bulb. However, the bulb housing may have two screws holding it in place.

I hope this helps.

Changing Microwave bulb

Remove lid, you'll probably need a pozi drive screw driver and a tamper proof torx drive.
The bulb is located near the front.

Light Bulb Change

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (most often on the rear or side) and the owner's manual doesn't address it, then disassembly will be required.

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

See these links before proceeding:
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Where is the light bulb located?

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

I have a diagram at my site which helps you find & replace many GE cooktop and cavity light bulbs. Other models are similar.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and for many brands by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there.

There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once your over the range type is out of the wall, or if yours is a counter top model, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, and a special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

TO BIGDEEL

Do you mean your internal cooling fan or the hood / vent / exhaust fan?

If it's ther internal cooling fan, do not use the microwave or the magnetron will overheat and be damaged or destroyed.
