Tv has constant horizontal lines going through it, started out as just a little annoying about 4 months ago and is now almost impossible to watch. would appreciate some help , i called around and cheapest was about $275 to get it checked out.

We need to know if the lines are of different colors or are they white and the screen is too bright ?, 275.00 seems a lot just to get it check out but it all depends were you are,in NY that could be a going charge but in pittsburgh it seems too much,please let us know what the lines look like.

there are some capacitors on the signal board that are associated with the pwer supply regulators off the 5 volt and other sources there that need to be replaced
if you have the tools and know how and soldering station you can do the repair your self if not then you might want to contact a servicer in your area i can get you the cap location numbers if you like
if it has been four years since the set has worked you are going to ned all three CRT's I'm afraid, the tubes will go soft just from sitting and not being used. also I bet there are a ton of bad capacitors in this Tv set now also.
Good Day, marvy21; try theses ideas, they will fix the TV # 3 is most common, you might start there.
1). VERTICAL ROLLING, VERTICAL BLANKING BAR LOCKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE, ALSO MAY HAVE HORIZONTAL PULLING OR TEARING. CHECK C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2). CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.2). CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.
3). CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.
These sets have capacitors that will go bad, but without a good ERS meater that tests these in curcuit you could be spending a lot of time doing nothing, But the most common is to find the 9 volt reg on the signal board and change all within a 2 inches of that regulator
Code 23 means horizontal deflection failure. Check your horizontal output transistor. Or the horizontal drive transformer solder joints as well as the horizontal yoke pin connections for bad sloder.Hope this helps. if I can be of further assistance let me know
