It appears the hard disk has been wiped/formatted and does not have an operating system installed. You can download the device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB
support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windows
drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the
drivers: -
You need to get a Windows Vista installation CD and if the Windows label
on the bottom of the laptop is still attached then this label has the
product installation code.
Boot up with the Windows Vista installation CD to install the Vista
operating software then you need to install the Presario device drivers.

There is a class action lawsuit currently being initiated against HP for this issue. The Complaint alleges that HP misrepresented and concealed material facts regarding certain laptops including a design defect, which causes the power jacks of the laptops to fail.

Hi mohamed04, I recommend you to perform an HDD self test so we can understand if you have a faulty HDD or just a Software problem caused by any windows update or virus that might have corrupted your windows boot file. For performing an HDD self test you should turn on the unit and when HP invent logo appears press " ESC " key, then you will have access to other menu where you should select option " F2 - System Diagnostics" and then " F4 - Hard disk Test" . After process finishes it will provide you a message with " success" or #xx Fail". You need a new hard drive and install fresh windows operating system. Maybe after that you can try to put your old hard drive to external enclosure hard drive and try to recover your computer will recognize the hard drive. Hope this helps, HRH

Fundamentally, it means that the hard drive or hard drive controller has malfunctioned. I'm assuming this is running Vista or Wndows 7 and that the hard drive is indeed a Sata drive?
(If it were running XP, the failure to deterct the hard drive could be caused by there not being a Sata driver installed, however, on Vista or 7, this should not be the case, UNLESS you changed the OS from what was installed originally?)
I would try to prove this by testing the laptop with another working sata hard drive and if that one is recognised in the Bios, then it comes back to your original hard drive being faulty. If this IS the case, then as its 3 months old and still under warranty, I'd take it back without tampering with it any further
