I go to the main screen and select multiplayer and before i can choose online or split screen it kicks me out of the game and back to my ps3 home screen.

your wireless router is loosing enough packets to drop the connection. for a test try to use a cable to connect your ps3 and see if you still get kicked. if not then consider running a cable or replaing your router.

first, make sure that the controller is synced with the ps3. if the game is 2 player online ( not split screen ) it may not allow another controller to be on. on the back of the game box, it should say if the game is split screen or online only. it should also say how many controllers can be used in the game at a time. hope this helps.

sure you can, all you need is a broadband connection (wireless or wired) and a Playstation Network Account.

to set up your internet connection, find the network settings on settings menu on XMB, choose 'setup internet connection' or something like this, then follow the guide on screen .

then just login your Playstation Network Account in PSN menu on XMB (if you don't have one, simply register yourself in PSN menu on XMB in the correspondent option).

when logged in you PSN account, simply start up your game and access the online multiplayer option, it will connect you to CoD severs.

then, you must invite your friends (that should be logged on PSN also) to the same game. there should be an option to do this on Online Multiplayer interface.

hallo i had the same problem its not a problem with the game, its a problem with your modem or router steps to take are 1) updade firmware on router/modem, check the manufacturers website 2)set the ps3's ip address to static go to settings network settings manually set the ip address to static (192.168.2.200 is preferrably good) find the dns address (google your internet service perviders dns eg "virgin medis dns") input both primary and secondary dns find your routers ip (check the manual) it should be 192.168.2.1, 192.168.1.100, somethign like that) input your routers settings into your ps3. now your ps3 has a static dns 3.input your routers ip address into your computers browser login and get to the home page you should find a tab named "dmz" go onto that menu and add your ps3's ip addredss onto the dmz and that sould be it done if you need more help on your router check this out http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

For COD5 on the wii, there is no split screen or local (in your room) multiplayer. Only online multiplayer and co op in the single player campaign.
