So where is the optic block and how do i get o9ne/replace one?

Hello the optical block is located at the center bottom of the set. It is a multi-step process to change it,and there is a video on youtube that explains it, but with the age of the set and the expense of the part whether it is a feasible repair. here is a photo of the location and the part itself. The part number is A1084658A-R and the cheapest place I have found it is through Tri State Modules, but I have never used one of their rebuilt optical blocks....thanks 45332b34-0b13-4b31-b0f8-7d13c4c58967.jpeg db64ea74-db85-4ddd-9dba-81d6af164b42.jpg

Is this blue tinge on the left side of the screen a lamp problem or the projector itself. the lamp for this Panasonic PT-AE700E was replaced only about a dozen hours ago. what is an optical block, and does...

Your problem is the optical block failing. This is very common with the AE700s. It actually happened to me once before and I had it fixed. After having it replaced, it was recommended I run my fan on high mode, run the lamp on low mode and change the back lit color to black from blue to help thwart the issue. The optical block fails due to heat stress from the projector. Doing the things above lower the heat and extend the life of the block. I have a perfeclty good optical block if you would be interested as buying them new are extrememly expensive.

How do I change the optical block in a sony tv

Disconnecting wiring from power supply block

This step may be optional, if power supply block must be transferred to purchased replacement optical block. Undo the blue plastic-coated wire holders to release the two wire bundles. Disconnect the connectors shown with the dotted lines in the photo below. One, which presumably provides power, is disconnected directly from the power supply block, and the other is a regular wire connector.a837b7e.jpg

Disconnecting the wiring from the optical block circuit board (C Board)

Carefully pull up on the three wire connectors directly connected to the top of the C Board:

Final wire disconnection from C Board

Remove the screw and gently pull the blue ribbon ribbon cable out of the side of the C Board:

Your optical block should now be entirely free of the TV and ready to ship. I recommend adding specific protection for the projection lens, then sealing the whole unit in a bag to prevent infiltration of dust or packing materials, then carefully packaging it with substantial padding.

Removing the projection lamp (in cases where you are installing a purchased replacement optical block)

Loosen the hex screw next to the projection lamp housing, and pull the lamp and housing outward from the metal clips.

Here is a picture of a replacement optical block for the KF-60WE610. Note that some parts of the old optical block need to be removed and installed on the replacement block.

GHOSTING

Hey joseph, actually replacing the optical Block is not necessary at all, all you need to do is get into the "Service Mode" of the Tv and change a few setting around, did it a few weeks ago and now my TV looks perfect, no reason to waster $1200 as sony is trying to get over on all us consumers.
