When I put a dvd in and hit the close button it keeps spitting the dvd door open. Its like the little slider that has the red light on it that recognizes that a dvd is loaded is not back far enough so that the red sensor can detect the dvd. I opened the unit and it seems like the little slider with the red sensor on it does not slide all the way back after the dvd door is opened. If you push it all the way back and close the dvd door, it loads, the red sensor comes on and the dvd door stays shut and the dvd will start playing. If I eject the dvd and the door opens, the slider only goes part of the way back. If I close the dvd now, it spits the door back open. If I push the slider all the way back again then close the door the red sensor comes on and the dvd starts to spin and play. Does anyone know what part I can order to get the slider thing to go all the way back so when the dvd door is shut the sensor can detect the dvd? or what I can do so that the slider goes all the way back on its own?

Re: DVD loader mechanism
It is called the slider assy. The slider moves the laser assy back to home or start position. It is a small belt underneath or there is gunk or hair in the gear mechanism. A very common problem with CD/DVD players/recorders. Very good though that you saw it was not comming back to home place. I wish I had a manual to assist you but I do not. Im telling you the most common problems with the slider mechanism. Good Lck

Make sure the batteries in the remote are working (they go in the back of the remote at the bottom).
Turn on the DVD player with the power button on the DP300 itself (lower left). Open the dvd tray either with the remote (press open/close button, upper right) or with the button on the DP300. Put a DVD in the tray and close it with the remote or the button on the DP300. The DVD should load.
Use the arrow buttons in the centre of the remote to select choices from the onscreen menu of the DVD. Press Play (centre of the 4 arrow buttons) to activate the choice you want. For example, if you want to play a movie, use the arrow buttons to go up or down until "play movie" is selected, then hit PLAY, and movie will play. If you want to choose a scene/chapter of the movie, use arrow buttons to go up or down until Scene Selection or Chapter is selected (highlighted), and press PLAY. This should bring up a list of the scenes or chapters. Use the arrow buttons to select the one you want, then hit PLAY, and that scene should play.
If the DVD tray is taking less than 20 seconds to operate, there is likely no problem. If it is taking more, there may be. I think the mechanism that opens and closes the tray is often the first thing to stop working on DVD and CD players.
There is a faulty loading setting in the mechanism and so when the power is switched the motor moves to eject and do not come to the PARK/REST position.
So you will need to open the camcorder to reset the mechanism. check inside of the tray for any objects that have fallen into and blocked the drives. Keeping the door open tap on the body to release any objects.
Hi scooty69, First you do is to unplug the cord of your DVD unit for 5 hours in order
to drain the stored current, the purpose is to reset the unit. After the
5 hours plug the DVD see to it if it open If not, just try to press down
on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will
unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the DVD
unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electric shock . When open
already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the
gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the DVD player and you
will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc
platter. When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you
do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly. If you do
already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the
cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the
manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small
gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider
unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If
the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or
simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of
the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the
gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn't return to the start position
(called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the
disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There?s a little
micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets
dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also. Hope it may help you;
There seem to be a prolem with the mechanism that opens and closes the player.
Probably the player hit something really hard.
To fix this, all you have to do is to get the appropriate screwdriver, unscrew the cover of the player, take a close look at the mechanism that controls the disc tray and you will discover the fault.
Adjust the rubber and sit the tray properly, if you see any damage on the mechanism, all you have to do is change the mechanism.
mechanical timing and allignment is the prtoblem of your dvd player...you need to open the cover of the dvd player..take out the dvd mechanical loading system try to eject it manually by turning the gear with your hand..make sure that the cd loader reaches the limit switch before it closes..
This DVD drive has a small processor in it. The button sends a signal to the processor to open the door. The processor then turns the light on and the door is supposed to open.
This unit is broken and needs to go to a shop as the IC that opens the door is probably bad.
Try this: get a paper clip and find the small hole in the door. This will manually open the door. Then use the button to close it. It could also be a mechanical failure..
Hi, is it fully open, or just partially open? Is it nearly shut but just jammed? If so have you tried inserting a flat peice of plastic and pulling the draw open. You could do this with no power to the dvd player, It might be that you haven't inserted the disc properly and it is wedged in.
