I recently purchased an acer travelmate 8204 when in the usa and had it shipped home to the uk. The security smartcard function was not operating so i downloaded the drivers from acers site and installed, all seemed fine when initiallising the two cards but when i boot the laptop up it asks for a card as it should but then sits on a black screen checking the card but does nothing else and of course this now prevents me from entering the bios too! I can never get through to the acer helpline so wondered if anyone has had this prob or any ideas, thanks.
Ouch, I think the download was incomplete, or corupt. unless Acer has a way of bipassing the smartcard, you might be forced to reinstall the OS. Good luck!
