Horizontal lines on lower portion of screen

TV worked fine in the morning about seven days ago. At night when I turned the tv on there were about seven black lines horizontally varying in width on the lower 1/3 of the screen. They have been there ever since and will not go away. The tv is hooked through the vcr, but the lines are there when the tv is hooked up to anything else as well. I have a switch box which allows the tv to be hooked to several peripheral devices. The problem is not the tv being hooked through the vcr because all those connections are correct. What could the problem be?

Your problem is a bad matrix drive circuit or a drive connection cable. There are no user replaceable parts inside this set, so Im sorry to say, you are going to need to call in a trained plasma repair person. good luck!

Screen doesnt work, sound works fine. It worked fine last night but wouldnt turn on this morning, why?

is the screen dark?, if is it, see if the TRC filament is light, if is it afirmative, turn a little clockwise the fly back knob that say SCREEN and watch if there is a horizontal line at midle of the tv screen. if is it, your problem is in the vertical stage.

Green horizontal lines on screen no picture

The green CRT's (color picutre tube or color wheel, or ballast) will need to be tested for replacement.
It is quite common with these tv's

You will need an ohmmeter and or voltmeter and test each component for currency and accuracy

Toshiba 32D46 - White Lines at Top Of Display and TV Not Turning

as i've read you statement your tv need to check parts by parts, the one you mention upside trace vertical line, that part control on vertical ckt faulty parts nearly to faded filter capacitor you can directly replace all capacitor of vertical section. the one you adjust is that the playback transformer the upper portion is focus and the lower portion is screen voltage controlling screen voltage supply to crt g2 pin. if you turn this high that resulting hazing sound come from 2nd anode cup.

My Gateway LCD Monitor was fine last night this morning to my surprise the screen was full of blue and white horizontal lines. I tried restarting the computer and then I couldn't even get it to turn on....

the montor wont turn on? or the pc?
the lines mean you may need to have the bulb changed. The bulb should last up to four years but sometimes you get a dud. It also depends on whether you bought the TV new or not. If that's the case, you don't know how long that TV ran each day or for how many days it was on display.

After a household power blips during bad weather, we have horizontal lines ....

Unfortunately there isn't any way to repair your tv as the magnet has distorted the tube that is in the tv and with CRT becoming obsolete the repair is likely to be very costly so probably your chaepest option is to buy a new tv .

Toshiba colorstream 27A33 TV

1.Are these lines only in the upper 1/3 rd portion of the screen? And is there a clear demarcation between this area and the lower portionb, where the image is perfect? 2.Or is thin Horizontal lines evenly spaced around an centimetre apart? If it is the first case, then there si a problem with your TVs SMPS. It is not generating the required regulated 110V required for the TVs functioning. If it is case 2, then there is a simple adjustment at the back - 'SCREEN'. This adjusts the Screen Grid Voltage, and by slightly lowering it, this problem will go away.
