Question about Hampton Bay 52 In. Cameron II Plus Ceiling Fan, Brushed Steel & Cobalt Blue Finish

Installing Fan Pull Chain

I'm trying to install a new pull chain in my fan, but i lost track of which wires go where into the chain. The wire colors are black, red, purple, and yellow. I am assuming black is L, but i still need the colors for 1, 2, and 3. If no one can provide them, would it be harmful to try different combonations?

My husband pulled the unit down and didn't mark the wires - the colors of my wires are purple, yellow, black, and orange...I purchased a new 4 wire / 3-speed fan switch...but can't locate a wire schematic to follow. Any suggestions?

Hampton Bay fans are a Home depot entity. You can contact Home Depot online and ask but im sure you never will recive an answer as I have asked several questions about replacement parts to them till I was blure in the face. You can look up a company called the fan doctor online and see if they can assist you Good Luck

I want to get my fans back to the original setting when first installed.

If you mean you put in new pull chain switches, then I'm pretty sure you have the wrong switch. What is the make/model of fan. How many wires on your capacitor & which color wire goes into which slot in the pull chain? [email protected]

I did not make a diagram when replacing the light switch

Red from switch goes to two blacks, blue from switch goes to two blacks and the black wire goes thru top of light and attaches to blue fan light wire. If you want a good fan, look for blade pitch(13 degree or higher)Or CFM's above 5500 on high.

HAVE HAMILTON bAY CEILING FAN, WORKS WELL BUT FAN WILL NOT STOP ALL THE WAY. INSTALLED NEW PULL CHAIN SWICH AND NEW TIMMER, STILL HAS CURRENT GOING THROUGH.

You don't have the correct switch. A lot of switches look alike on the outside but they are different on the inside. Call 1-800-365-4548 and tell them how many wires on your capacitor and which color wire goes into which slot on the pull chain switch.

I thought I put the wires from the old switch to the new switch correctly but now the fan does not work. The lights come on but no fan.

The pull chain for fan and the pull chain for lights are wired separately.
If you are talking about a wall switch, add a comment with clear description of old switch and new switch, screw colors on each switch, and color of each wire for possible help.

Open following link possible illustration of your pull-chain fan switch.

I have a 3 way fan light switch but wires don't match the colors on my hamton bay fan what wires go where i have a black wire and a brown wire and a grey wire on the switch in the hamton bay i bought...

It takes 2 testers.
699b7e0.jpg regular tester

c7b2876.jpg
Continuity tester has battery and light bulb.

Use regular tester to find Hot wire that feeds old-switch.
Remove old-switch from fan
Strip back wires
Separate wires so they can be tested.
Turn on power.
Test each wire to bare copper wire -or- to green wire -or- to metal part of fan
One of the fan wires will light up tester.
This is the Hot wire.
Mark Hot wire.
Mark which color wire on old-switch went to the hot wire.

Use continuity tester on old-switch.
You know which wire is hot-on-old-switch
Pull chain and test hot-on-old-switch to both of the other wires.
When tester lights up, mark this wire.
Pull chain again and test hot-on-old-switch to both of the other wires.
When tester lights up, mark this wire.
At some point when you pull the chain, the tester will light up both the other wires.
This is the high speed.

Use continuity tester on new-switch.
Repeat the test for old-switch.
Identify which wire will be the Hot wire by process of elimination.
Mark this wire.
Identify high-speed wire.
Pull chain again, and tester lights up on medium speed.
Pull chain again, and tester lights up on low speed
Identify these wires and match pattern to the old-switch

Which color wires connect to pull chain switch

do you have a Menards, or a Lowes in your area, if you do they can give you the answer to this question, it is a bad idea to get this information from on line unless you go to the website for the fan and see if they have the correct wireing diagram on their website......
