Question about Acer AL1916S (Silver, Black) (Black, Silver) 19" LCD Monitor

Open Question

ACER AL1916S After booting my computer the screen appeared a dark shade of blue. I have checked the cables and they are fine. I have rebooted the drivers for the monitor and the graphics card (onboard intel graphics media accelerator 900) I believe the problem to be within the moniter settings. I.E the RGB settings, however it would take too long to adjust these colours mannually. I have restored the settings on the monitor to defult but they are not correct. The monitor apperars to be working properly (i.e the colour is fine withing the onscreen menu) but my windows display is poor. Could you please assist on either a solution or the correct R , G ,B settings for this monitor. Many thanks A much distressed Steve Woodward

SOURCE: acer al1716 colour problems

I have an Acer AL1916 which I bought new in March 06. It became faulty when the colours changed. In addition the whole image shifted to the left a few inches (now and again). Like yourselves I thought it was the cable / PC but it was the same on a seperate unit. Concluded faulty - so back to Acer it went. They repaired it and it came back with the colours back as they should.

However, 10 months on, it's done it again. I turned it on Monday and the screens gone back to a horrible purple hue.

So back to Acer it goes again. I'm not impressed at all. Temped to fight and try and get my money back. Clearly these screens have a reoccuring fault and it sounds like you guys have the same fault.

PC locked up.

reboot in to safe mode (follow these steps)
1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start "windows with networking", and then press ENTER.

See if your DSL line works in that mode. If it does, then we simply need to clean up your windows startup applications.

Who is your DSL provider?

Reboot the computer and keep pressing F8 till you see the advanced start-up options screen. Once it appears choose Safe-mode. When XP loads, click Start-> Control Panel and remove the software that you have installed. That should get your notebook back to working mode. Once its done let me know and we will deal with the bluetooth.

Black screen after turn on

That "Blue Screen" is also known as "Blue screen of Death".

The problem is due driver compatibilty or unstablity.

Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Last know good Configuration that works"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

If the above procedure fails, again
Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Safe boot"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

Now create a restore point  and download the lastest version of your WI-Fi driver and installed.

This should work fine.

Otherwise Backup all your important data from your hard drive (mainly opearting system file installed drive usually C:\) and go for a new Installation.

Reboot the computer and during startup start pressing the F8 key until the boot menu appears. Then select "Last Known Good Configuration". The PC will reboot on it's own and hopefully be fixed. Hope this works for ya.
