I have a Samsung MR5492W 1000 Watt. My wife put a cup of coffee in to heat and the cup must have had some kind of metalic paint. There was a loud pop. Now everything works except it doesn't heat.

Normally the fuse(s) in a microwave will kill all power to the unit and render it "dead", as opposed to just limiting operation. The most common causes for it to run without heating are a bad door switch, a bad relay or connection on the control circuit, a bad connection on the "FA" magnetron terminal, a defective high-voltage transformer, a defective magnetron or a shorted high-voltage diode. One thing you could do is to try gently pushing down on the door handle or the door about 1/32 of an inch or so and se if it heats then. That would indicate door switch trouble or alignment. This test can easily give you a false "positive", though. I hesistate to offer any more specific instructions unless someone is an experienced and informed DIYer or more. Even still, I would want to steer a person toward my Web site, which contains important safety info and free DIY tips. But I cannot, since such a referral would violate the terms of this site.

Microwave has no heat but everything else is running

Most microwave ovens have a High voltage fuse for protection of the magnetron. This fuse has possibly blown. This fuse is normally in the form of a cartridge with attached wiring and is located near the magnetron. I strongly recommend that you have a qualified technician investigate this fault as there are lethal voltages associated with the magnetron.

When I press the start the button the turn table inside microwave is not turning and there is not heat on the food. But the light is on and the clock is working. What do you think is the problem? and what...

The turn table motor of your microwave is defective already and also the magnetron - the source of generated heat of the microwave is also defective. But before assuming that magnetron is dead, check the high voltage fuse it may be blown and replace the fuse (if it is blown) it with similar rating. I hope I help you with your microwave problem.

Not heating

Remove the outer cover (pull the power plug first) and look for a blown fuse. If found, replace the high voltage diode and the 'stirrer' (a fan-like device located within the sheet metal wave-guide near the opening in the cooking cavity where the microwaves come into it). This stirrer has a plastic bearing that frequently arcs over and permanently shorts out the microwaves which blows the fuse. If no blown fuse is found, look for a loose or defective door-interlock micro-switch.

Microwave will not heat food but everything else works.

HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))
