Brother 1850 MC fax machine starting printing on only the left side of the page. It is the second such machine to have this problem in the past two years. A local business machine company could not fix the last one so I tossed the fax machine. Is there anyway to reasonably fix this one? Thanks .. Bill
One of the blue levers that hold the the top of the imaging unit to the printer has cracked. If you look carefully on the side that is not printing and flex the lever you will see a hairline crack. You can buy the levers at an office equipment repair store. You can also try gluing or taping a screw to hold the unit to the frame. What is happening is that the imaging unit is not close enough to the film to transfer the image onto the page. Happens all the time on these units. print a report, any report, from your control panel. if it looks good and your band is only on copies and transmitted faxes, that would be your Contact Image Sensor going bad. its located under your document feeder and looks like a sinny piece of glass that runs left to right.
Brother Intellifax 2750. Prints light on the left side of the paper (left being it's out of the fax and you're looking at the paper). Changed cartridge and it's still doing it. What ya think? Thank you in advance.
pull out your drum unit and look inside machine above where the drum would be. you should see a black assembly that runs left to right with a "****" glass. may need a flashlight. clean that glass off with a clean rag. sometimes toner "scatter" will get on glass and cause this.
The Thermal printhead is most likely burned out on one side and will need replaced. It could also be the printhead connector has worked loose and is only making partial contact. Remove the connector and reinstall. If that doesn't solve the problem then it would be cheaper to purchase another fax.
First and most important with Brother machines is , you need to use genuine brother supplies. Almost every time I service a brother and I find generic toner and drums cause the print quality issues. New supplies cost as much as a new machine. If not the supplies then it is laser or power supply.
