This unit has 3 vertical lines -- which appear to be a pixel in width -- stretch from the bottom of the screen half way up. Two of the lines are on the left side of the screen and purple/magenta in color. The third line is yellow and lies on the right side of the screen. Also, the screen was scratched. Any suggestions for smoothing out the scratch or reasons for the vertical lines would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to tell you, it is not a scratch, but a bad cable connection from the driver IC's, connecting up the plasma screen to the drive board, or the drive IC for that section of the screen is defective. It is not a repair a user can do as there are no user replaceable parts inside this set. Your going to have to call NEC or an experienced Plasma repair shop.

I have a similar problem with my Samsung 50" plasma. A teal colored line that runs vertical halfway up the screen. It is one pixel in width. Does anyone know if this can be fixed?
