Hi,

Initially, pls check D854 on the Power Supply/Logic board. It is a dual diode. If you would prefer board replacement rather than component level repair, this might be of help. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

This is of course in addition to checking the usual, power cord, fuse, outlet etc.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Dell E173FPf 17 vertical line problem

Yes, but the cost is not worth it. If you get it apart you will no doubt find a couple of bulging capacitors. Dell site has the disassembly instructions.

Flat Cable (P-Two AWM 20969 E221612)

you need to be patient because if you cant get it from the dell stores and still you can get it online you will need to visit a computer hardware vendor/ repairer who have thesame monitor but the monitor is completely damaged so that he can repalce it for you. but it is going to be expensive.

Dell E173FPf lcd- no picture, steady green light

E173FPf Mfg December 2004
This E173FPF has changed much inside from the November 2003 E172fpb which had the famous 4 identical transistors 5707 that would tend to fail in pairs. If your newer E173FPF displays a green power light and fails to display a picture try replacing the 220uf25v capacitors at C6 and C26. Test them with a volt ohm meter and they will test Ok, replace them anyway. Radio Shack did not have the 25v so I used the 35v, display works fine now. There is an E173FPF repair kit with directions available on Ebay if you don't have a parts store in your area and would prefer delivery.

i'm not an expert at anything...x'cept maybe dumpster diving. God Bless

Dell e173fpf lcd monitor is grey

Sounds like the AD section of the board may be junk. I did the same thing - bought the board from lcdrepair.com.

I submitted an RMA request to get a replacement. The process was difficult due to the pdf form they make you fill out. Lots of errors and no good way to submit it, since it wants to use outlook, but the pdf isn't configured properly to do so. Seems fishy, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now. We'll see.
