I have had my camera for about 4 years now and all has been fine. I have only been using the 16mb card that came with the camera. A few weeks ago while using it, the screen would not come on although I could still take pictures and download them to my computer. Because I remember the settings for deleting, I was able to delete the pictures and continue again. Then it wouldnt respond to commands-off, take pictures, etc and I could only shut it off if I removed the battery. When I put the battery back in, sometimes it would remain on. Other times it would not recognize that there was a card in it when I tried downloading pics. A couple of times the screen would come on but appear all white. All these things have not been steady but switching around accept the screen does not show me what Im trying to take a shot of. I love my camera and use it for work. I need help...:(

Looks like it time has come to be retired.
I fear the a repair option is not a likely route.
Lack of parts, shipping costs to a repairer, inspection fees only to find it cannot be repaired. will all mount to a fair chunk of the price of its replacement
By all means explain this the Nikon Technical Support Team

Your
camera will accept a maximum SD card capacity of 1GB. It simply isn't
capable of handling anything of a larger capacity and in particular is
incompatible with the more technically advanced SDHC cards.
Your fix is to either replace your camera with a later model or to stick to using SD cards with a maximum 1GB capacity.
The 4500 uses SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is not electronically compatible with the camera. You'll have to restrict yourself to SD cards 2GB and smaller.
I got a s200 camera ripped off with just the camera and the case. I'm offering reward $ for just the 4gb memory card back. If you have any info $ for the card, no questions asked.
I bought a 4 lens kit - I think from Amazon. It was a long time ago. The size is 28mm. yes, here it is http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-28mm-Filter-Set-Coolpix/dp/B0000521B9
Only the Camera Manual will tell you the max capacity.
They do have their limits and you could a be wasting your money or even find the camera does not accept it.
Check the manual thoroughly and if still in doubt put the question to the Nikon Technical Support Team.
Did the 1st card ever work? (i.e. is the camera new to you). After many uses, the memory cards need to be reformatted (thru your Setup menu).
Post the make and model of the cards and we can check to see if they're compatible w/ your camera.
