The conections are according to the instructions. I cannot get the TV Tuner on my Jensen VM9511TS to show any video in TV tuner mode. I receive clear sound from each channel, but no picture, just a black screen. The DVD function is fine and it's not the E-brake message, just black screen and sound.

Hi. No, your tv is an older model sdtv with an analog only NTSC tuner.
Newer model have an ATSC/Qam digital tuner, but not your model.
This means that if you want to watch tv, you'll have to get a converter box. It will have the ATSC/QAM tuner i it, and it converts the signal into lower definition NTSC, and then sends it to the tv through either coax cable, or rca cables. Once in a great while you might even find one that has s-video output, but those usually are expensive.
YES you can!! Touch the "video" button on Jensen, theyou MUST use your iPod to findthe video you want to play on the screen and SET YOUR iPOD SETTING TO "TV OUT"!! I have the same decand iPod and it's GREAT!! Just remember that on videos, set the iPod to TV OUT, and control the video from the iPod!!
Look at the TV specification - does it include a surround sound receiver and amplifiers? The tuner may not be 5:1 capable - thus there is no surround on off air broadcasts. If there is then you may need to select the correct menu and turn it on - THIS WILL INVOLVE READING THE MANUAL OR USER GUIDES.
You have already diagnosed the tuner as the problem, the first thing to check is the conections at the tuner specially the ground conections, the shell of the tuner is the ground and it conects to the chassis by being solder to it,if all conections check ok look for overheated areas. After that is taken care you still have the possibility of having a bad tuner. If you are familiar with tv service this information will help but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
