Door making clicking noise when trying to star wash,error 40 comes up.

Are you sure you have both hot and cold water connected? Try turning the water valve on, if you don't have hot water make sure you choose cold cycle. That's the first place I'd start.

It is a door lock error caused by bad door lock switch or if your door is very hard to swing closed because the hinge is corroded, then the hinge could be causing the door lock to error.

Error 40 means : "Door Error"

When you get error 40 it is usually because of a defective door interlock.

Try disconnecting power for five minutes. If the error comes back the parts to be tested are door interlock, wiring or main PCB. The defective part must be replaced. Parts and quote on repair can be obtained contacting Zanussi customer service at the number listed on the owners manual.

e40 is the alarm if machine started with door open. door lock may be faulty or connections/ wiring to it. possible for door ******/handle to come mis aligned in the door you have to split the door to check the handle shaft has not come out. watch where the springs go. the clicking is the electronic trying to lock the door.

E40: Door open, Interlock, wiring or main PCB most likley going to be faulty door interlock.

Turn the power off, unplug the machine and take the top off your machine and on the front right of the machine there is a plastic case with lots of wires.

Put the wires out one block at a time, keep putting them in and out, this will help the connection to seat.

Try the machine again and the problem should be solved.

If not you may need a new board.

Sounds like a door locking error. Clean around the door with soap and water. (if the noise comes from the front. Check the drain if noise is from the back( may be crimped /twisted). Here is your manual.

Fdl is a code that indicates a door lock error. The clicking sound that you hear is most likely the door lock. This error occurs because the door cannot be locked.
