Did you happen to spray any cleaner directly onto the keypad? Hope not. Just wanted to exclude that poissibility to save time.
Assuming this model does not have a feature allowing you to turn off the turntable via the control panel, the motor msay be failing. Or you may have a bad door switch.
If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and

Hi there HandyFolks,
The bare metal in a microwave is a problem. It needs to be insulated. I'd immediately rule out Black tape or epoxy.

SOURCE: rust under turntable of microwave can i paint it?
If the cavity metal of
the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and
clean and dried thoroughly.
Then you can apply some
high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart,
Lowe's or Builder's Square.

SOURCE: my ge microwave is rusting under the turntable.
This is due to either liquid spills or steam buildup or both.
In rare cases, you may have bad air flow (blocked vent or clogged filter) or a weak internal cooling fan or hood vent exhaust fan.
It's recommended to wipe off any moisture that accumulates inside, and leaving the door open a while after cooking may help, too.
And I always recommend
that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove
top to keep heat, steam, and
grease out of the controls and door panels, etc.
You need to clean the area,
sand it shiny, then clean it squeaky again.
Then
you can get high temperature appliance paint in spray or brush-on form
from local appliance part stores or places like Wal-Mart and Lowe's.
I would suggest you let
it dry overnight with the door open before using the oven.
You can find
helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts (such as charcoal filters, etc.) by entering your full
model number from the tag on the oven here.
You shouldn't need to remove the oven from the wall to take care of this problem.
If
so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have
two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

owner's manuals and installation instructions here.
