Dell power problem

I am having problems with my Dell Optiplex since trying to add an internal CD burner. After connecting the CD burner and closing the case; I reattached the cables and tried to turn it on. The green light came on for a second, then turned back off. I tried this several times, then tried removing the CD burner to see if it would resolve the problem. But it is still happening. I can hear the power supply start, and the fan starts running; but it powers down imediately after that. Any ideas?

Dell OptiPlex 780 with Windows 7 does not play my cd's or dvd's and is missing from device manager

Sounds like a problem of non-detection by the system. If the drive is missing from My Computer then it definitely is a non-detection issue. Try using this file (it's an exe when unzipped) and only required double-clicking.

Where is the fuse on a Dell Optiplex gx 620 PC

The computer is receiving electrical power, but an internal power problem may exist,Ensure that the processor power cable is securely connected to the system board,.It sounds like it may have had a power surge and may have burned something in your board.. You could try removing RAM unhooking everything hard drive cd drive un plug machine, hold power button till you see the amber light go out. reverse installing everything after it has sat for awhile and try to reboot

I have a dell optiplex 270 and my computer does

If the drive is seen in BIOS but not in Windows, then this should resolve:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

If the drive is not seen in BIOS, Reseat the power and data cables, and reboot and see if the drive is seen. If not, then boot to BIOS, turn on Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, and NUMLOCK, then press ALT+E (system should Beep once), Then Alt+F (Beep) then ALT+B to reboot Then gp back to BIOS and see if the drive is seen.

If drive still not detected, replace the drive

Cannot burn cd from Musicmatch from Dell Optiplex GX260. Error.

Hello,

My name is ArmyMason, I am here to help you. So you have an issue burning music to CD's. What is the format of the music? MP3, WMA, or WAV? Is the music protected by copyright in which doesn't allow you to burn it to CD? Right click on the song and click properties you will be able to see if its copyright protected there. Also some burning software only works with newer CD drives. I had an issue once burning a DVD with this software I bought because the DVD player wasnt supported. Once I upgraded the DVD Burner I was able to burn DVD's. Those are the only things that could be stopping you from burning music.

Hope that helps,
ArmyMason

Dell power problem

This could be something as simple as whats called a chassis intrusion switch which is named normally 'JCI1'on the motherboard. When you take off the side of the pc it shorts and has to be cleared in the bios utility record if it has one, thats if you can get as far as the bios screen,if not try clearing the cmos by shorting the jumper on the mobo named 'JBAT1'. Put jumper on pins 2-3 for a few seconds then back on 1-2 pins and try re booting. Hope this gets you in the bios, if so if there are no accidentally loosened connections to any internal hardware you should boot into windows.
