Question about Sabrent (USB-UF6) (USBUF6) Serial Adapter

1 Answer

No device recognition!

I installed the USB-UF6 into my Dell 4400 pc, 1.89 mhz, with windows xp home. Winows identified the controller card and the ports, but when I plug in a USB device (thumb drive etc.), there is no recognition in any of the external ports. Windows shows the USB driver to be (5.1.2600.2180) and the fire wire port driver as (5.1.2535.0) Also, the windows version is 2002 with service pack 2. Please respond with a solution. Thanks, Bill

Does the 'USB' branch of the tree show the USB ports?
Is there an 'Unknown Devices' branch of the tree?

Either way, the software "device-drivers" for the USB ports are not installed, or not installed correctly, and so you'll get the symptoms that you've observed -- power without device-recognition.

Access http://support.dell.com and click "Detect My Computer", and download and install the device-drivers for the USB ports.

I need the usb controller driver for the dell dimension 2350 know where i can find it? thanks

The USB controller driver for Windows XP is a Native XP driver. If you have a problem with it, boot to the safe mode, go to device manager, remove the controller from list, make sure all USB devices are disconnected (Keyboard and Mouse excepted) reboot and let the controller re-detect.

If that doesn't work, then try a repair install of XP

Dell dimension 5150 ethernet problem reloaded windows xp home from a windows xp entertainment os. apear fine but not receiving.

Okay, so it seems you installed Microsoft Windows XP Home on a what was Media Center Edition installation, and the ethernet is no longer worker.
Please refer to dell.com's support section, enter your model, and download drivers that you need.
To find drivers you need, Go to start --> control panel and then go to (under classic view) system --> the hardware section, open up device manager, and then look for ones with a yellow big question mark, and get those drivers from dell's website. Burn these drivers to a CD on another computer, or use a USB flash drive if that does work.
Good luck.
