Wont let me select resolution

I have just installed the game on windows Vista and at first it would not boot so went into properties and set to run as administrator. It now boots but only to the initial resolution options "World War III Setup" and will not let me go any further. I select a resolution for the game (tried a few) and tested but then when pressing "ok" nothing happens. The "ok" button doesnt even get grey'd out

Ive managed to find a fix for this and I can see a number of people are having the same issue. I the game wont boot at all but has installed then right clicking the WW3 Black gold icon, selecting properties=>compatability tab and then selecting to run as administrator does resolve that issue so thanks to Bryan D for that one!

But if the game does begin to boot but you get stuck on trying to select the resolution type and cant get use the ok button then download the World War 3 Black Gold 1.2 Patch and install it and this should resolve the problem.

I got my download from here http://www.shacknews.com/file/454/world-...

Yep. Compatibility. But there is hope. Find the game icon. Right click it and click Properties... adracamas_7.png
Then click Compatibility. Once there check on 'Run as Administrator', then Ok. Try it again. If it still doesn't want to work then go back to the same windo and click 'Run Program in Compatability Mode for...' and select a previous version of Windows (XP SP3 for example). If that don't work push it back a little further and further until you find one that works.

Try this out it seems to work for some people, if that does not work try this out:

    Switch to Windowed Mode

If you continue to have trouble playing your game in full screen mode, switch to windowed mode. Under the main menu of the game, select Options, and un-check Full Screen mode (or vica verse if you already have windowed mode on, switch to fullscreen)

Thanks and I would appreciate a reply if that got fixed or not.
    Good Luck!

I adjusted resolution on my HP notebook now when I turn on cant see screen. Please help

Hi Jess,

Boot the computer in SAFE MODE by Restarting the computer, and the moment its on keep tapping the F8 key untill you see a screen saying "Windows Advanced option...".

1. Select Safe Mode using the keyboard arrow key and hit enter.
2. This will load all basic drivers to start safe mode operation.
3. Go to Display Properties (WindowsXP) or Display Settings (Windows Vista) by right click on empty blank space on Desktop, then select Properties(Windows XP) or Personalize(Windows Vista).
4. Then change the resolution by sliding the Low to High slider bar. Do not press "OK" or "Apply" at this time.
5. Instead, click on Advanced Settings, and then click OK. Windows in Safe Mode will change the screen resolution according to new settings, and prompt a "Monitor Settings" dialog box prompting that desktop has been reconfigured, with countdown timer. Click on Yes to keep the new settings.
6. Alternatively, simply click on Advanced, go to Adapter tab, then click on List All Mode. Select a mode with screen resolution size and color mode that you prefer, and click on OK. Windows will apply the new resolution size and color quality on Safe Mode too.

Acer Aspire 5610Z. Upgraded to Win 7. Screen resolution changes

Hello,

Your laptop was not designed to run windows 7 or be compatible with it. It may run fine with windows 7 but issues might come up sooner or later like the one you're experiencing.

[EXPERIMENTAL]
Download both of these (as I don't know which one of thsese two your laptop needs). Keep mind that doing the following could render your system inoperable and use at own risk. When downloaded, extract ZIP , open desired folder and find SETUP or INSTALL program. Right click and choose properties, then navigate to compatibility mode, then select windows Vista from the menu. Then apply changes, ok and close window and attempt to start.

Cant play old games such as dungeon keeper any ideas on how i can do thisi get blocks and fuzz

You can try and run the game in compatibility mode. You can do this by installing the game and then right click on the shortcut on the desktop/folder and choose properties. Click on the compatibility tab and choose the version of windows that you used to play it on.

The other option is to dual boot your operating systems. Infomation on how to get this done can be found here:

Pc game not compatible with my DirectX

This game is for Windows 95/98/ME. And you dont specify what is your problem. The game doesn't install? Or after installation, it doesn't run? What exactly happens?

Anyway, if you're having problems running the game, you can try to:

If you're on XP or Vista:
- Install latest Direct-X (9 or 10, according to your OS, on Win98 and ahead you can install up to Direct-X 9): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en

- If on XP/Vista, right-click on the game EXE and set compatibility mode (select properties, then compatibility, and on "compatibility mode" select to run the program as Windows 98 (try all options to see if it runs on any) - and try also the checkboxes below, to run the game in 256 color mode, on 640x480 resolution and to disable "visual themes".

Also update your graphics driver to the latest version available.

My laptop screen size

If you're running XP: Right click on the desktop and click Properties. On the Advanced tab, move the resolution scroller to the right. You might have to have an experiment as to exactly which setting is right for your laptop so to restore your usual size without distorting the screen.

If you're running Vista: Right click on the desktop and select Personalize, then Display Settings. Then adjsut the slider as detailed above.

Acer al2016w monitor

when you say you have it plugged into the on-board video output.. does that mean there is a graphics card installed too? used to be graphics card installed? if there is or was then its possible that there is a bois setting that tells your computer to use the existent or non-existent graphics card. either was your onboard is going to shut down. This is one theory.. but since its is turning off once you get to your desk top the more likely reason is that its software based and you either have the wrong resolution, driver, or refresh rate selected to use when windows boots. Toy around with diffrent resolutions, refresh rates, also if you have a graphics card plug it into that. your on board most certinly will not be enabled if you have a graphics card.

VGA MODE in vista:

Restart the computer and immediately start pressing the F8 key, once per second. At the selection screen, use the up/down keys to select "Enable VGA Mode", then press the "Enter" key.. If it works, it will bring up the basic VGA drivers in "normal" Windows and should allow you to install the Vista compatible drivers for your new card. After installing the new drivers, restart the computer and if it remains in VGA, you should then be able to adjust the resolution, etc. from the "Display Properties".
