Mine did the same thing, it was under warranty, but the amp within the head unit had blown
Make sure that you have the amplifier wire hooked up. as some cars have a built in amp. such as ford thunderbirds or cougars.
I just had the same problem right after uploading my "i personalize" settings from the Alpine website. Intermittently, the unit stops putting out sound. The fix, I've found is one of two things. First, Try waiting until the "Alpine" logo disappears, wait another second or two, and then just hit the "i Personalize" button once. If that doesn't work, hold down on that button, then scroll over to the user-defined EQ settings, and hit the track select to the right. I know that this is still an extremely annoying issue, but the good news is that the problem is fixable, and maybe a firmware fix will come out of Alpine at some point.
I Have the same problem, Did it Kind of short in and out for a while before it stopped working? I checked the Wires, infact I rewired it. I checked the Speakers. everything appears to be in working order. Still I have no sound at all! I called a friend at a local Car audio store. His reply was "Why did you buy that piece of junk?" He told me that he's had to replace about 6 of these receivers in the past year. He said if you want a good JVC Shell out a little more cash and get one of the higher end models, they seem to use better parts... One thing i haven't tried yet is to hook up my old receiver and if that works I'll know it's not the connection in the car. I'll let you know how that turns out.
I have had the same problem with a couple of my cd players, pull out your speakers and make sure the inputs on the speakers are not touching any part of the door frames or grounding out on any metal in your rear. also check if any wires are might be split and grounding out. i hope this helps
