Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Blank Screen and faulty shutter blades

I have a Sony DSC-S600 cyber shot digital camera. Whenever I click to go from view pictures to take a photo or record a video, the screen goes blank/black. I can view pictures but not take new ones or a video. Also, the shutter blades don't fully open or close whenever the camera is in "take a photo" or "record video" mode. If I am just viewing old pictures the camera functions normally. Please help!!! Thanks.

I have a Sony Cyber Shot DCS-T1. It works fine in the view photo mode. When I try to take a picture, the screen goes black or blurry. I've changed the battery. That didn't help.

I found out the hard way that you should never use alkaline batteries in a Digital Camera. I thought my camera had a fundamental flaw (power kept going off whenever I tried to take a photo or record a video and the shutter blades half closed) even though it was only 2 months old. I nearly wrote it off but all along the problem was that I was using alkaline batteries, which incidentally were enclosed with the camera in the box!! Once I switched to NiMH (Nickel) batteries the camera worked fine and the fault completely vanished! These NiMH batteries are avaiable in most electrical shops i.e currys/comet in the UK. They must be charged before use. They are more expensive than alkaline batteries (£8-£9 for 4) but as they are rechargable they last a long time.

How do you stop the beeping sound when you press the menu biuttons etc e.g. like to view your pictures etc on the SONY Cyber-shot DSC-W350 ? it is really annoying to hear the beeping every time you...

I have a W560, but maybe it's the same on your camera. It was driving me insane as well. On my camera, I went to the menu, under Main Settings there was something called "Beep." It gave the options of "Shutter, High, Low, and Off." If I chose Shutter, then it keeps a shutter-like noise when you take a picture but turns off the annoying beep whenever you push any other button. I assume if you choose Off it will turn off all noises.

Hope that helps!

Date doesnt show on pictures

The info is stored with the picture (not on it) in a form called "metadata". This can be recalled by almost any photo editing program.
