Colour convergence I recently had a repair man in and he changed the two output cu's and it didn't work so he said it could only be fixed by replacing the motherboard. The problem was with the blue, but then he left and I tried the blue again and got it lined up and it worked fine. An hour later I turned it off and left, when I came back I turned it on and the red colour is is now the problem. Is it the whole board that I have to replace for $550 + labour, or am I getting screwed????

It was the convergence ic's that he replaced and when it did not work the repair man put back in the ic's (STK....) that were in the T.V.

If you are not comfortable with desoldering/soldering STK or any electrical board components, I would find you a repair place that would fix your convergenece issue. Some will come out to your home ($65 plus just to come out) and other will take just the board and repair at reasonable not to exceed $400.

Several years ago we purchased a Philips 60" Rear

Hi,
It seems problem with convergence output section of tv and convergence output ICs need to be replaced by professional because it requires soldering work with proper tools.
Please call local tv repair shop to get tv repaired.

Hello,On your remote click the menu button and then go to the screen adjustment section. Once there chose convergence, and use the simple cross pattern to try to adjust your settings. If this does not work then you may have a convergence amplifier problem. For that you will have to have the convergence ICs replaced. I would suggest that you get a qualified TV repair man to do this for a fee. The covergence

I have a kp-61v90. I love this tv. Recently the flash focus isnt working,,,,, the colors are not lining up to give me a solid cross in the middle so it makes everything look as if i were wearing 3-d galsses. Yes i can solder, but what am i soldering. Help me please....my man cave is out of commission.

First color alignment problems then no pix or sound, just chirpin

If the unit is chirping your convergence amps are out again,or you have a shorted Horzontal output transistor. Not likley for horz output to go out after convergence repair. If he did not replace the 6.8 ohm resistors along with the convergence amps the convergence amps would overheat and short out again.This would explain why the corner would not adjust out. Not a very good buisness practice on his part.Here today gone tomorrow?

Sounds like a convergence problem.
Convergence Output IC Failure
Corrective Action: Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number 23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is
detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC
version.

Convergence chips

The convergence IC or in a sense ,amplifiers and the resistor are output resistors... if they are burning up the current going through them is spiking too high... TO me this is an indication that the "convegence yokes" are shorted. These are coils around the tubes that control convergence. I would suspect maybe that these are shorted to ground somehow. This is my first guess for this problem
