Question about Samsung PCL541R 54" Rear Projection Television
The bottom rolling banner, typically seen on news and sports programming, is missing it's lower half. Can an old electronics tech easily find the size and position adjustments? As I've never opened a rear projection before, do they exist or are they mechanical (mirror adjustments)?
The adjustments are if present on this model in a hidden tech menu that is called up----with set on most of these sets with the original remote call the menu up with display 182 or 183---different buttons once in select items and cursors adjust them You might want to GOOGLE to see if you can find a service manual to guide you.
If you make it into tech menu use real care as easy to select and adjust incorrectly---most items in the menu will have a number showing the current setting to which it is a good idea to write down.
There will be a save or "Data" button also
I am going by memory here but have been in that menu before more than a few times.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG HCL4715W
the HCL473W, HCP4752 are basically the same set same features. The HCL models like the HCP are rear projection. Unfortunately Samsung no longer manufactures the rear projection CRT models they are only available in the DLP rear projection with the closest comparable model currently available for a new replacement would be the HL50A65 which is a 50 Inch 1080P suggested retail 1299.00 If I can help you further please let me know. Also new replacement chassis are available for the HCL4715W.

You have 2 distinct problems that should be addressed separately. Please repost the Samsung problem. I will address the Sony problem here.
If the "shadow" makes the picture seem somewhat of a 3D one, the problem is with the convergence circuit. This could be as simple as bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and would like to attempt the repair, update this and I'll provide more details and instructions.

We solved the problem by purchasing a surround sound system and hooked it up to the Cable box thus bypassing the TV speakers. It was a cheaper fix than having a TV repair service guy come out and we have even better sound! Thanks anyway!

Try website Tv repair World.com to buy a whole convergence board for the replacement. The Akai/Samsung tvs used the same convergence board.
