My KitchenAid dishwasher is about 8 years old (came with the house). It is an upper-end model KUDR25SH Whisper Quiet Plus.
After the washer recently leaked a bunch of water, I took off the bottom metal service panel, and loaded up the washer (2 weeks after the first incident).
The first 5 minutes ran fine with no leaks. Then I heard the washer switch to the next cycle (whatever that is), and that is when water started dripping from under the door.
I'm guessing the problem is the door gasket/seal, since there was no water under the motor or under the unit hose connection (which I had tightened up previously).
The door gasket feels fine, it is flexible and not brittle or cracked, but does have water staining on it and could use a good clean.
I would like to know if a dirty gasket is sufficient enough to cause a significant water leak like this. Before I order a new gasket, should I bother going thru the effort of cleaning the gasket to see if that will fix it?
I had a similar problem with a KUDM25SHWH1 dishwasher. Rubber seal looked fine. I found an incredible tip on another fixi it site. One possible problem iss the pump cover screws may have worked loose and is squirting water directly on the door seal. Man that was it! I saw a couple of looses screws and a small portion of the pump cover gasket showing. I loosened the pump top, reset the gasket tightened it all down...no leaks! The pump I refer to is located directly below the spray arm inside the washer. Easy to get to. Another tip was to look for a split sspray arrm that may spray water directly into the door seal.
Open door and check if Gasket is worn especially around bottom corners.
Clean casket and bottom around door.
Use 3M 5200 and place a small amount around effected area.
Use a small piece of wax paper and place between door and gasket.
Close door and allow to cure fro at lease 24 hours.
This will form a new gasket and the wax paper should prevent sticking to the outside door.
Caution use only a mall amount of 5200 and don't get any on you.
Sometimes the dishwasher will leak when you use to much soap,or you get dish soap in the machine.the suds will leak out.try putting it in a wash with no soap the when you hear the water slosshing around then open the door and see how much suds are in it.

I use the little Cascade soap blocks that you tear the plastic off of, so it not a matter of too much soap.
Not all the time, but my door seems to leak at the door rubber seal. Is there a problem with the seal or something else?
