I have an ASUS Pundit P1 Pentium 4 651 3.4GHz 1 GB 250GB DVD that came with no operating system. I installed Windows xp and it's been running great until power went off a few days ago. Now I get error message saying configuration has changed and I need to reinstall Soundmax. And, of course, I have no sound. I don't know what version of windows xp I have, but all the other info came off my invoice from original purchase. Can you tell me what version of Soundmax I need and how to get it? Thank you so much!
Download the version of 5.12 soundmax software from the below link

"Your audio hardware configuration has changed. You must re-install SoundMax"
I encountered this error message when I moved a Windows disk drive to a different computer with a different motherboard. The original motherboard had the SoundMax sound chip and the new one did not. Windows looks for the SoundMax chip at boot up and does not find one and the error pops up.
There was no SoundMax uninstall. The fix was to stop windows from trying to start the non-existing SoundMax chip.
Run RegEdit. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run. Delete the Registry entry for SoundMAX.

the link given as a solution/answer to my question is to a site that sells speakers I don't see anything about drivers on that site. secondly, the person who responded to my question here says "I hope it will work"?? you mean you are not sure? I feel like you are asking me to gamble. Hopefully someone can direct me to the right driver, thanks in advance.
I only see speakers here at the link you provided www.soundmax.com.tw/productlist.asp?action=hot
There's no soundmax software or drivers or anything... just speakers. So this is of no help at all.
