3) Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list
4) Left-click on the Hardware tab
5) Left-click on Device Manager
6) When Device Manager loads, left-click on the + sign to the left of - DVD/CD-ROM drives

A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up,
"Warning you are about to uninstall this device"
It's okay. Click on OK.
Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Turn the computer off normally. (Start > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off)
Wait 1 minute. Turn the computer back on.
You should get a pop-up out of the system tray, "Found new hardware", and perhaps another one will follow, "Found XXXX DVD drive"
No? Doesn't work?
Try using another 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable.
http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#peripheral(The IDE harddrive shown, is just an example of a device that uses a 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable. Mistakenly referred to as a 'Molex' power cable)
Make sure the interface cable (Data cable) is plugged in tightly.

Thanks will try. However, noticed a mistake in my problem posting. It does not write to DVD but can write to a CD. Apologies. Will the solution change.
Anything to change in Registry entries?
Thanks

Uninstall and Re-install of Nero 7 Express did not solve the problem. Any other suggestion.
Thanks,
GH22LP20 DVD-RAM drive is not recognizing DVDs. Sees them as CDs only. Can anyone help?
Writes and reads CD's reads dvd's but will stick to 1% Lead-in when writing a DVD.
Will read and write a CD, will read a DVD, sticks to 1% Lead-in when burning a DVD. Nero 8.
