HELP
What you have to do is this:
1) The HDD Detection tool
Connect the device to the PC, load up Musicmatch. On the left click "Portable Device" tab, wait for the PC to show your device.
The device should show as "Philips GoGear" if it's showing as "Philips Nike" go to "Tools" on the right, click "Settings" click drop-down menu & choose GoGear.
You need to do this everytime you transfer files.
If that doesn't work, you need to do this:
2) Manual Re-Install
You can re-install the player manually by doing this :
- connect the player to your pc by USB cable
- uninstall all Installed software for the player
- remove device from Windows Device Manager :
- Desktop
- right click on "My Computer"
- select Properties from the menu
a new windows appears: System Properties
- click on the tab "Hardware"
- click on "Device Manager"
a new window appears" The Device Manager
navigate to the player (should be shown as Philips Nike) at the USB Devices
- right click on the player
- select "un-install" from the menu
- Windows will unsinstall the device
- If the player is not listed, the device has been deleted
Now to edit the Windows Registry:
(Note: Mistakes cannot be un-done so be VERY careful)
1. Disconnect all usb devices.
2. Go to the registry (Start -> Run -> type "regedit")
3. Make a backup of the registry
-click "file"
-click "export"
-Search/Create a logical location ("C:\REGBACKUP" for example)
-choose a filename ("registry backup Date.reg" for example)
-Please pay attention if Export range is set to "All"
-click on save
4. Click on the + infront of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
-Click the + of SYSTEM
-Click the + of CurrentControlSet
-Click the + of Enum
-Click the + of USB
Here you can remove all VID``s
-Before you remove the VID you have to set the right permissions, this can be
done as follows:
Right click on the folder USB and click on "Permissions", select in the window
that pops-up Everyone and and select "Full control" at the permissions.
5. Reboot PC without ANY USB devices connected
- install the software and plugins
- connect the device to your pc by usb
Check if device works and if still showing as "Philips Nike" try the first step again.
Hope this helps,

in philips go gear device it wont show the song or video unless or untill its a compatible one(e.g it wont play real player .flv files) to the player..check whether you can play the song from the device in your computer. if yes try a different youtube converter software.
the phillips go gear mp3 player is a total pice of **** the best thing you could do is go out return it and buy a sandisk sansa other wise called a sansa fuse they are great and they have an expandable micro sd card port.
oh and to fix your phlips go gear mp3 player you need to take a pin and stick it in a small hole on the side i belive it is on the left side next to the mic.
The songs may not be ina format that the player reocgnizes, or the songs you are loading may hav expired licesnse. Is your music service subscription up to date?
the software it only to tranfer and converted media into the portable device. to tranfer just click on add media then select the video that will be tranfer automatic. to load music onto the mp3 there are two ways using mediaplayer 10 or media player 11 will just work fine. another way it by selecting start then select my computer then u will see the portable device conected click on the device u will see files just ass photo, videos, music drop a drag the files onto music. hope this solve ur problem enjoy.
I was having the same problem with my PSA250/05 but found out how to resolve it.
As the PSA250 converts the files into it's own naming algorithms simple dragging and dropping mp3's work work as the device doesn't recognise them.
Inside musicmatch Jukebox you will find a portable device options section. In here under one of the options you'll see the mp3 device which is in a drop down box. If you click this box you'll see that you have another option for Nike + Phillips, select this option and now add your tracks.... All should be fine.
If your device is getting too close to its capacity, it will effect the menu on the device.
You need at least 6-10MB of free space for the "music database".
If thats not it, one or more of your files may be corrupt.
To resolve this, you should format the device to delete all the music, then transfer it back to the player.
To format, right click on the device under My Computer and select format.
Please add to the question if that didnt work.
Best of Luck.
ok...you are almost there...
now go to "My Computer" icon and click it and then find your new drive letter associated with MP3 player. (if you hover it, it should show the 6 Gbytes..or slightly less..of storage available). Click it and you can see the contents of the MP3. Use Mouse drag and drop from there to add songs.
