I think I have the same laptop that also needs a motherboard. The Presario F600 also had a m/n of F572US found on the label with serial. Looking on the Compaq site I found the motherboard is the same as for the F500 notebooks which is 442875-001. Link is at: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01095493.pdf This number is also found under the memory chips on most Compaq/Hp Laptops. Simply open memory cover and remove the memory chips and there you will find the Motherboard replacement number. Good Luck!

Hi Silverblade,
Unfortunately all I know about the machine is that it is a presario f600 laptop for the UK market.
What is happening, or should I say, not happening is that it won't turn on. He first thought it must be the battery but after putting it solely on the mains it still won't turn on. It just whirs for awhile then goes off.
He's took it somewhere local & they reckoned it sounded like the motherboard had gone but reckoned it would cost about £200!!!
I'm trying to find out the type of board for it to see if I can see one on ebay maybe........
I would like to confirm the model number again it's a Presario F600 right? The reason for asking is I have checked the HP-Compaq website for US and UK and there are F500 and F700 series only.
What is the part or model number of your friends desktop computer?
