Try doing 4 head cleans and then leave the printer powered up over night. Don't print or anything else after the head cleans until the morning then do one more head clean (this soaks the print head in ink overnight and then the final head clean should clear any obstruction. If the printer still refuses to print in colour, you could try replacing the cartridges anyway as they can be faulty. The only problem is thaty sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new priner. (how silly is that!) By the way, are you using compats or epson original ink carts?

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

Can you tell me how to change ink on an epson stylus cx400

The Epson Stylus CX6400 is an all-in-one printer that also features a scannermag-glass_10x10.gif for scanning and copying. The Epson CX6400 prints with ink via four separate ink cartridges in black (high or standard capacity), cyan, magenta and yellow. The cartridges sit in slots in a cartridge holder underneath the scanner. As cartridges run low, or cartridge print quality problems arise, ink cartridge replacement become necessary. As each cartridge snaps effortlessly into the cartridge holder, changing cartridges doesn't require much effort beyond unsnapping the old cartridge from the holder and replacing it with a new one. jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Instructions
  1. Step 1 Turn on the CX6400.
  2. Step 2 Check the ink levels for each cartridge. Press the "Setup" button to enter the setup mode. Press the topmost button on the left side of the LCD repeatedly until you reach the Ink Levels screen and then press the "Color" button to see the ink level percentages (for example, 0 percent or 50 percent) scroll across the screen for each cartridge (C for cyan, M for magenta, Y for yellow and K for black). Press the "OK" button to exit.
  3. Step 3 Select the empty cartridge or low cartridge option on your printer. If you're dealing with one or more empty cartridges, press the "Color" button. If you've decided to replace low ink cartridges, press the "Setup" button, press the topmost button on the left side of the LCD repeatedly until you reach the Replace Ink screen and then press the "Color" button.
  4. Step 4 Reach into the slots on both sides of the printer under the scanner unit. Lift the scanner unit up carefully to reveal the cartridge holder on the right side of the printer. Lean the scanner back to rest on its hinges.
  5. Step 5 Grip the unhinged end of the cartridge cover near the back of the printer and then pull the cartridge toward you. If this is done correctly, the cover should flip back and hang slightly out from the printer on a hinge.
  6. Step 6 Press your fingertip against the grooved tab on the cartridge that you're changing to unlock the cartridge from the holder. Once it is unlocked, pull the cartridge straight up and out of the printer and set it aside for disposal.
  7. Step 7 Shake the new replacement cartridge in its sealed packaging four to five times using a rapid side-to-side motion and then remove it from the packaging without touching the green circuit boardmag-glass_10x10.gif.
  8. Step 8 Insert the replacement cartridge in the holder and push down on it until you hear the grooved tab click, locking the cartridge in place. Remove and replace any other cartridges as needed.
  9. Step 9 Flip the cartridge cover over the cartridge holder and push down on it to lock it in place. Grasp the sides of the scanner unit and lower it gently into its previous position. Wait for the "Charging" message to disappear from the LCD and then begin printing.

After replacing ink, I (sometimes) get a color, but never black. Is this an issue with the ink purge tube? This is not much fun.

The print head is clogged.Try unclogging with cleaning process in maintenance mode.then wait 4 - 5 hours and run nozzle check. If not help run cleaning again and then wait 1 day.If this not help better think about new printer, because the cost of new print head is profitable.

Epson cx6400 ink problem

The ink nozzle may be clogged. You may be using refill ink not from the original epson ink. Try cleaning the nozzle assembly or the printer may not be usable.

Black does not print well

Try priting a test page to identify the color in questions.

http://www2.clicshop.com/Stores/metawatch2/Files/metawatchprintertestpage.pdf

Chances are you are running out of another color...

In reality the printers actually use other colors to print black, besides the black ink. (I.E. if its a picture etc...)

A greenish hue normally means your Magenta is running low.
