Whirlpool Washing Machine Model # WTW5310VQO Serial # C001121012 Type 111-07 Bought at Costco @ April 2009 The cold and hot water settings work fine, but the cool and warm settings only output the proper temprature water for 5 or 10 seconds, and then just output cold water. The washer is @ 3 years old (Costco) and when it was new, the warm water setting use to shuttle between hot and cold water output to fill the tub to a somewhat warm temprature. Recently this started, on the warm setting, it starts to fill with hot water, and after 10 seconds or so, changes to cold water and stays on the cold for the rest of the wash and rinse cycle. Water heater is set at 120 degrees, I'm using the extra rinse cycle. In retrospect, the hot water valve might have been misbehaving from day one...... and I should have addressed it during the warrantee period. Bad me :( I can live with the cold wash, it's just annoying that it isn't operating properly. Any suggestions??? THANKS, Bill
I've found problems with the temp. switch on this washer part number W10184148 and it's around 40 dollars, also on the rinse cycle the washer only uses cold water.what happens when you use just the hot?i had a lady that her water would start to fill and then the water would stop and the pipes in the house would start making a banging sound.if you order the part from http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Switch/W10184148/1468990 repair clinic and if this isn't your problem which i think it is from how you discribe it you can send the part back and get your money back for up to a year.good luck with your washer and next time you buy something and it doesn't work right get right on it

Littleone.. please check your instructions.. some washers now dont need Hot water connection to them...they heat their own as part of the efficiency settings on the wash programmes themselves!

The inlet valve that the hoses attach too the solenoid for the hot side may be stuck closed or clogged with sediment. May need new inlet valve.

Replace the water valve. A solenoid is bad on it.
SOURCE: Water setting temperatures are off
It would say that it should be under warranty. But this model has parts that are no longer availible. Here is my guess, you have a bad switch.

SOURCE: Whirlpool washing machine (WTW5200SQ0) temp problem
there is a water temp sensor at the valve it is set to operate at hot wich is 120 degrees if your water heater provides hottewr water than that you may want to turn it down, also a new water valve may be necessary
