Unless you are a super genius this cannot been done they are only meant to work with the same model, once i have pioneer that needed a remote it took me 5 tries to find the right remote i went to local pawn shop 10$ is what i spent try there, but take the remote to your car and make sure ALL i mean ALL every last one on the remote work properly

QXA3196 is the part number for the remote. According to the Pioneer website, that remote was distributed with the DEH-1200MP, but may be compatible with many other models.

This unit has an AUX input and will accept audio from any device with a 3.5mm stereo connection, including the iPod.

Don't know what you mean by "program"? Basically you can't program it, however you can play your iPod through your speakers by connecting them with an adaptor that has 3.5mm plug for the earphone socket and RCA cables on the other end, that is the red and white leads. Some stereo units have a 3.5mm socket for sound input also. You can also get a dock unit from Apple with the cables and a remote control. This way you only have to drop your iPod into the dock and then you can control it from across the room. COOL!

With persistence, I was able to program the Universal Remote Control provided with the cable box to control my new used Pioneer SX-315 receiver. I now can control the tv volume, cable box, auxiliary stereo receiver with speaker system with one remote. Thank goodness I did not have to resort to buying a Pioneer remote control.

I was able to program another previously unused universal remote which I purchased several years ago. However, since the other remote control did not list the Vizio TV. That brand is too new for the remote.

Don't spend a lot of money for a universal remote. Radio Shack has some good buys. I think you are the same person who is having problems with a 305. Get rid of it. You can make a quantum leap at Amazon for less than $200 for a Pioneer.
