Windscreen and headlight washers not working

When the wiper stalk/leaver is pulled into the operate position the wipers work as they should but there is no water coming out of the washers and no sound of the pumps operating, neather the windsceen washer pump nor the headlight washer pump, have checked both fuses and they are ok.

It sounds as though their is a short, loose connections, or the water punps for these are out.
Inquire with a technician for diagnostic options.

Testimonial: "Yes, thanks for the help, it looks like both washer motors iced up in the cold weather so both packed up at the same time (thats what had me puzzeled).- Moral of the story- - make sure theres an additive in your washer water to stop it freezing !!! Thanks again to all who replied, Ian "

Rear windscreen washes when stalk pulled forward?

It should be that when you pull the stalk towards you the front wiper/headlight wiper operate, away from you for the rear wiper. It hasn't just rewired itself, and miswiring seems quite unlikely.

Has it been dismantled? Has any other electrical work been done near relays or fusebox?
Some history would be useful. I'm also wondering whether it could also be changed by programming the computer? If you don't have any history I would join a volvo forum and seek further advice before you start dismantling the stalk wiring.
not sure where you are in the world so here are a couple

My wipers wont switch off on my v70..will increase speed via stalk but wont stop..is this a relay or a new stalk

I would check the relay by pulling it and swapping another in it's place but it is probably an issue with the stalk

The windscreen washer does not work, there is no sound of pump when leaver is pulled. Is this a fuse problem?

If the wipers work normally they are on the same fuse. I would say it's more like the pump

Window wiper problem

Hello I have a saab 9.3 SS 04 and had the same problem.

- intermittent wipe doesn't work, at all
- windscreen washers don't work, at all
- "normal" continuous, and fast wipe work, but the wipers
freeze in the middle of the windscreen if you let go of the
control stalk, rather than sweeping back to the resting position
- same "freeze" happens with the manual wipe (push down on the control stalk)

The weird thing is that, this morning, for about 10 minutes, it seemed to fix itself,
partially - the washers started working etc - but the intermittent wipe still didn't work. However not long after that it went back to the symptoms described above.
also if I unplugged my car battery for a minute the washers worked for several seconds but again same problem occurs.

Solution is to replace your wiper motor. its that "simple"
worked for me. The wiper motor has a lot of electronic stuff and seems to control the washer engine.
Good luck.
