I have a HP Laserjet (2200 series) and it prints fine except that there is a light smudge over the entire page. It is not the print job itself that smudges because images and text are crisp underneath the smudge. The smudge has several dark horizontal bands across the page. Do I buy a new toner or what else can I try. I already tried wiping the rollers inside.

This problem is with the fuser. It needs to be replaced. They tend to burn out right in the center leaving a rolling smudge across the page as the unfused toner left on the roller gets printed on the next roll-over.
