Phillips Big Screen Older Model

Our Tv was moved and when it finally got to our new house, the picture is all green. I have tried all the menu buttons and looking to see where I can go next. I even took off the screen and cleaned everything in side thinking maybe the blue and red was dirty. NO luck......Someone said i need fluid but they only said that didn't look at the TV ...what does that mean..

It means the fluid that cools each picture tube is low in the green but where did the fluid go,remove the back cover and check for a fluid leak towards the front side of the chassis and if any it should be right below one of the picture tubes. The description of your problem tell us you have a rear projection set but the heading shows a direct view tv.?????????? Since it was move the leak is only a possibility there could be other reason.Be careful and be sure set is unplug.

55PW9363 55 in. Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television: My Phillips big screen has double images and doubl...

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

Color is off since relocation

Hello Mia1026,

First I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician look at your set because it sounds like your Blue and green CRTs have been damaged in the move. If this is the case they will have to be replaced.
I would if I were repairing this TV:
Check to see if there was physical damage to the CRTs
Check to see if the HV trippler was functioning
Check to see if the CRTs lit when power is applied (on the Green and Blue CRTs)
That would be a good start.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Problems playing my Phillips DVD/ VHS with my new WESTENHOUSE HDTV

I notice this was made in 2008 and I hope you have found the answer. But if you or others have not here is my answer. Are using the RCA cable from the output on the DVD Player and you have plugged it into the RCA in ports then you need to use the remote to move through the on screen menu. My INSIGNIA has a Source List menu on the remote that shows on screen. I can scope through the MENU for TV, Composite Side, S-Video Rear, S-Video Side, Composite 1, Composite 2, VCR, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3. That is found using either the INPUT button on the upper left on the remote or the buttons; VIDEO, COMP, HDMI, AND TV across the top of the remote. Hope this helps.
