I tried to play a cd in my player as I have many times before. The player accepted the cd but would not play it. The player made a "whizzing" sound but no music... I skipped through some tracks to see if it was a scratch issue. No luck. I tried a brand new cd. No luck. I put in a cd lens cleaner disc and the same thing happened. Is this a lost cause? I have experienced no problems with my cdx c5000x until now. Thank you for your time! Amy K

It's having trouble reading the CDs. The thing that reads it could be dirty. But try a different cd. The CD player is getting old and if there is even a small scratch it will be hard to read it. A new CD player would be the way to go
I had the same problem.
i fix it by taking out the cd player and pulling the outer case off. when i looked inside and the (in technical terms) metal bracket that holds the white plastic disc (that i guess holds the cds) inside the cd player was bent down. i am assuming that cds were hitting this when i tried to insert them! i just bent it back up using a knife from the outside. i bent it up until the white disc looked level.
good luck
It's likely it's dirt on the CD lens. You can try cleaning it with a lens cleaning disc. But if the lens has been damaged it will never read the disc again, no matter how many times it is cleaned.
hi penguinxy. try get a original cds if it works fine.the next time you burn cd try burn at 8x or low may be your cd lens is not detecting cds burnt at high speed.hope this helps..
try to play a song from original cds.
maybe you brunt it in mp3 file, or its a different format. try to burn your song to cd-r.
if still, try to use nero to burner..
if it wont play your original cds and burnt cds, then the optical lens or the board is broken.
hope I helped you.
