I tried to play a cd in my player as I have many times before. The player accepted the cd but would not play it. The player made a "whizzing" sound but no music... I skipped through some tracks to see if it was a scratch issue. No luck. I tried a brand new cd. No luck. I put in a cd lens cleaner disc and the same thing happened. Is this a lost cause? I have experienced no problems with my cdx c5000x until now. Thank you for your time! Amy K
Your problem may be the picup assembly or need cleaning not with cloth there are special cd's for that purpose.

It's a lost cause. It needs a new CD mech, unfortunately.
