My LG 700E crt monitor has stop functining to control brightness and contrast ,Any other way to increase or decrease brightness and contrast. pls let me know thanks

It's time to RESPONSIBLY RECYCLE any 17-inch CRT monitor, and buy a LCD monitor;
used LCD monitors can be purchased for under $50.

It would cost you over $50 to take the CRT to a TV/Video repair shop, for trouble-shooting and repair.

A 15-inch CRT monitor? It's time to responsibly recycle it, and buy a 17-inch LCD monitor, because _nobody_ fixes CRT monitors any more.

LCD back light is off or very dim

I changed monitors and it works??? What worked. Did the brightness appear? Is the monitor now functioning properly?

If not, monitors can have increase brightness by using the menu settings. The settings can be accessed by the buttons that are usually below the monitor screen on the front under panel. Adjust the brightness from there.

If that fails then change the monitor. That you are suggesting that the backlight is out, I am assuming that you have a flatpanel monitor and not a CRT. Either can be configured the same way using the menu buttons; however, the back light issues are different in the two types of monitor.

Good Luck

hi polly ... I assume you are using a CRT monitor ... if you are then the monitor is simply showing its age ... CRT tubes use a electron gun which over time looses its perfromance... there is really nothing you can do except to replace the monitor.... although if your graphics card has a gamma correction setting you might be able to improve the brightness but at a cost of other settings like contrast...

Have lost ability to control brightness.

lost,
wow a CRT that even glows at all , and you wonder why its dem
the electron gun cathodes get weaker every day of its life.
all CRTs do that, not one or even TVs using CRT
the red gun always goes dim first so we crank it up in the OSD.

if it fails on all PCs, the monitor is bad, a 5 min test. and bingo
then if the monitor is known bad then what.
the OSD screen ever seen that, and the front panel key marked MENU/?
go there and play with brightness, and even the electron gun tuning, the page for that is RGB, Red Green blue.
adjust them so white looks OK.
but if all are dim, that is normal for old CRT,
we only get like 3 folks a year stuck in 1990s... or older.
the labor to fix it is 3 times a new LCD LED display.

land fill time. like the other billion made, and scrapped
