How to increase the dull CRT monitor brightness

after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is ....picture becomes dull (less brightness & less contrast --- that noise is from EHT )........so solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching monitor --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore (09986222774, [email protected]) ----- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as sevice charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact monitor service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily.....

In most cases this could happen because of electronic components getting aged. I suspect the monitor's LOT or some capacitors about to die. Get them replaced with the help of a expert technician. That should fix this problem.

buttons are not working perfect.therefore pressing automatically. you have to remove the panel after power on the monitor, (it may be dangers therefore get support by electronic technician , he will remove buttons and solder new ones or replace the switch panel.

if you increase them from the line in the board and the problem still you must exchange the line with another indeed its still in the market
if you not you must go to the line and deal with them

Hi, you can try this; in a clear area of the Desktop screen (right)) click, once the desktop window open, click on Personalize, next click on Display Settings. You can adjust the brightness by by doing the following: On the resolution scale adjust from Low>High; you can do this until you are satisfied with the view. In the (Colors) drop box, click the down (Arrow), and choose the "Highest" color (16bits>32bits) etc. Next click to open the (Advance)) settings, click on the (List All Modes) button, once the window open choose the (Highest) settings: example (1366 by 768, True Color (32bit), 60 Hertz. Not cleaning per sey but a tune up. CRT monitors have alot of things going on inside (high voltage and high heat). This causes parts to change value. You can send this to my company for a tuneup or take it to a local serviceman. The average price price should be +- $100.00.

Press the menu button on monitor select the brightness press the menuside button increases or decreases.after select exit oress the exit button on monitor.

i think this problem accure due to chage of CRT CATHODE. if you are not a hardware engineer then check it from hardware engineer. any crt monotor have 3 RGB Cathode to release electron on screen. the electron comes shodow mask and create a pixel on the screen the pixel make a picture. The RGB color make the perfect picture. if your picture is dull then i think that happen due to less negative chage of Cathode or any Crt base Bios ic is failior. so you have to checked it from hardware engineer.

1 it is due to low voltage on crt pins. 2 if it is ok check video section 3 crt might be weak if monitor is old.
