Question about Black Box Serial Adapter

1 Answer

Black-box regd i am having a ibm pc loaded with windows-2000 professional. in my application i am speaking to remote system via black box converter.(485 communication). unforunately hard disk got corrupted. i had to format the work-station. Now when want speak to my remote device through blackbox it looks like it is not communicating. what could be the problem with the black box? do i have to install any drivers for these black box converters to make it to work? whether these drivers are pc dependent i.e driver changes for ibm, dell etc..

There are NO drivers needed or even provided by BlackBox for this device. It simply uses hardware circuits to convert an RS232 signal to a RS 422/485 signal. My first reaction to this question is: Do you have your PC serial port at 9600baud which is the default RS232 signalling rate for this device? (I guess I probably won't hear a response on this as the question is almost a year old, with no attempts by anyone to solve it. I'm the only glutton for punishment.)
