SOURCE: makita table saw switch wiring

K, from what I can remember there is nothing special about the switch, however the brake works off the armature and brushes and dirty or worn brushes will affect it. I just looked at a breakdown and there is no wiring schematic on it and I did not see any electronic module for the break. You can take the brushes out (unplug tool first) and blow the area out with compressed air. Look at the brush spring for discoloration and condition and length of brush. Makita does have a good website and also a toll free number for tech support. Their site is Makitatools.com and click on the table products and then type in your saw number. Let me know if you still have a problem and I will contact a local Makita center to get more info. Good luck

SOURCE: Makita 2704 I overloaded my motor

if the motor RPM drops dramatically when the noise starts, it is probably a dry motor bushing, if this just started, lubricating the motor may just fix it.

SOURCE: when I turn the table

you don't adjust the table, you need to remove the table from the base and clean the surface, when you take it apart you will see what I am talking about. To do this first unplug the tool and remove the fence and kerf boards, under the kerf boards you will find a 13MM hex bolt just like on the fence, remove the bolt and lift the table off the base, clean the wear plates and lube them with a light coat of grease, on the outside rails you will see what is causing your problem, clean with a surface conditioner or fine sandpaper, lube this area also.. Make sure you do all the sides for a smooth turn, reassemble the table to the base in reverse order and install the bolt, I usually tighten all the way snug and then loosen till you can turn the table freely making sure not to loosen too much or the table will rock. Reassemble the fence squaring it to the blade and replace the kerf boards. It sounds complicated but really it is not. This is the only way you can get that metal to metal rough turning repaired. Let me know if you need more assistance

Makita tablesaw 2704 won't start

It could be a multitude of things. It could possibly be the switch is bad. Do you have power at the outlet. Check for a break in the cord. A wire may have come loose anywhere in the saw itself. Did you check the brushes. That's about all I can think of except for a bad motor. You can smell that. Just take a good whiff.

Saw stopped working. changed brushes. still not working.just dead.blade turns ok.not even a click

These are notorious for burning out armatures.
The replacement process is pretty involved, I would not attempt unless you are comfortable.
Remove the brushes
Remove the 3 Screws hold the motor assy to the saw
Remove the screws holding the motor housing together.
Separate the housing and you should be able to see right away if the armature is burnt (many times the windings actually blow apart)

Often when the armature burns out it also melts the brush holder assy - I would recommend replacing it as well.
If the armature appears fine then I would lean toward the switch. Makita BSS611 18V LXT Lithium Ion 6 1 2 Circular Saw Parts

My 2704 is blowing fuses, there is no fault on the lead

You may have a motor winding lead that has touched the case of the motor, shorting out the windings, drawing too much amperage, thus blowing fuses. You may have to disassemble your motor and check the stator windings for a short as well as the armature windings. Also the motor could be hanging up due to bearing trouble and causing the motor to draw too much amperage. Probably the cheapest thing to do would be to replace the motor.

My 2704 bench saw has packed up. thought it was the brushes, fitted new ones. it spins up but lot of blue sparks comming out of the motor. It has done a lot of work, is it best to fit a new motor or can i...

before you replace it, you can try and clean the commutator. To do this first unplug the tool and turn the saw on its backside. remove the brushes and find a emory board (cardboard) while turning the blade by hand (use a glove) lightly touch the board to the commutator to try and clean the surface, While doing this try and notice any raised sections of the comm, if there are any then you would need a new armature and possibly field. I would try cleaning first though. Let me know if you have any more questions.

My makita 2704 table saw stopped working while cutting a 4"x2" piece of timber the motor was a little hot so left it too cool an now when i try to start it up it fires up for a second or two then...

there are no capacitators that I see. What I would do is unplug the tool and remove the brushes and check there condition for burning/wear and if you can look into the brush tube and carefully turn the motor by hand and look at the commutator for discoloration. Electric brake doesnt work unless off switch hit really hard.doesnt switch on sometimes

sounds like a faulty switch. before removing write yourself or take a photo of where the wires go. Also check the condition of the brushes, if they are too short the brake won't work either.
