RE: Scanner gives me code 5,145,61 how can fix it ?

I was using wireless router and receive exactly the same error code as above.
SOLUTION: Turn-off printer/scanner; reset or turn-off the wireless router power and then turn-on again. Turn-on the scanner. Start scanning.

SOURCE: Scanning error - cannot scan error code 2,155,0 ???

I had the same problem with a new Canon MP970. Printed ok, but couldn't communicate with the scanner - error 2,155,0.
Canon phone support didn't help, and suggested it was a firewall problem. I uninstalled, and re-installed, turning off firewall, virus software, and everything. No luck. Tried several USB cables, no luck.
Then I uninstalled again - as well as a couple of old drivers and software associated with two now deceased printer/scanners.
This time I plugged the (same) USB in and turned on the device, using Windows' own hardware install wizard.
Now it works fine (at least for now... touch wood).
So - the problem might be either conflict with other printer/scanner devices installed, or with Canon's installation software.

SOURCE: Scanner was working fine this

Check the scanning unit by copying something on the platen. If this does not work, you have a defective scanning system. If it does work, check connections between the PC and the MX870.
Please let me know if this works. If not we can investigate further. Thanks.

SOURCE: I am trying to scan

Your firewall block the communication. You will need to get into your protection software and allow 'full' access of MP Navigator (EXT)

SOURCE: Scanner is disconnected or Turned off.

Try going to manufactures web site and downloading drivers for the printer from there. Also you might check your device manager to see if the unit is being recognized by your computer. it should show up iunder USB or Printers. I had an Epson that did the same thing but mine was a wireless and I had to re-establish coneection and go through setup again to have my IP address recognized. Most of the time plug n play will pick up the new device.

You might also try running security and windows updates on your computer, there might be an update that is keeping the computer from recognising the printer anymore.

Its just a start of what could be going on, hope its an easy fix.

Check using a new USB cable. Unplug everything else plug into USB except for mouse and keyboard. If not work. Un-install driver and software. Download driver and latest software. Reinstall printer using driver only. Then use Paint to test it.

Cannot scan with Canon MX870. Error code 5,145,61 Windows XP Wired LAN connected printer and laptop reinstalled Print/scan/fax S/W - still no scanning. Printing OK. ???

My solution was to open the MP Navigator application and then click the preferences at the top right. There is a product name dropdown. In my case the incorrect MAC address was chosen (denoted by "Network:XXXXXXXXXXX"). Once I chose the other address it worked perfectly.

Many printers will not scan over a network, even when they are supposed to. Try connect to it with a standard USB cable and scan to PC directly. If that doesn't work - you have probably got a faulty scanner.

If the scanner works OK directly to a printer, then your issue is either LAN/WLAN bandwidth or an unstable IP address. Try fixing the IP Address rather than running DHCP address allocation eg set it at 192.168.x.150 where x is the range value for your network. Then set the printer port address on your devices to the same values and try again.

Scanning error - cannot scan error code 2,155,0 ???

Hi
I had the same problem, at first I thought that it was the original drivers (the ones I got with the printer) so I donwloaded the drivers from the canon website, this did not resolve the problem. What I also tried and it worked for me was connecting the printer to the computer with it's original usb cable. I bought a couple of weekes ago a usb extension cable (about 5 m long). With this extension cable I can print but I can't scan any document, it just gives me the same error. Hope this works also for you.
Bye
PS: My printer is a Canon Pixma MP190
