Re: screen is black when trying to record
Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.
Blank screen or 'remove lens cap'. on JVC's
This is a known problem here in England and jvc are doing free repairs until Oct 2007 even for out of warranty items
hope this helps you all

Hi, First, Please confirm that if LCD is blank then can you see the images in view finder ? If not then the CCD IMAGER is faulty and if LCD is blank and you can see the image in view finder then then a Flexible board which connect the LCD with the main unit is broken, Please replace these parts according to the symptom. Moreover, for your ease pics are shown below of both parts with part number.
First pic is for CCD IMAGER second pic is for flexible board. Thanks
Try the following link if no picture or a black screen appears in the
viewfinder or LCD when attempting to record.
It shows all menus, numbers and graphics on LCD, but seems like there's no picture coming through the lens. In both modes, video and still. It seems like it can not see anything as if the lens cap was on all the time.
Could this be a problem with sensor.. CCDs? Lens? Something else?
