Please be more specific. Are you not able to hear any sound on the TV regardless of the input source? I've not seen a dvd with speakers so how are you hearing the sound from the DVD? Are you using a AVR between the DVD and the TV or are you connecting the DVD directly to the TV? If directly what type of cable are you using?

If cable/SAT box, hook-up that box video/sound output to DVD video/sound input. If no cable/SAT box, hook-up cable from wall into antenna/cable in on DVD and tune DVD to channel wished, and hook-up DVD TV antenna out to TV antenna in. If DVD has no antenna/cable in, TV must have video/sound output. Hook to DVD video/sound input. Hope this helps.

Make sure the the necessary input of the tv is select to be able to play the sound from your DVD. Also check to make sure you are pluging in the sound cords into the input sound of the tv and not the output. Make sure the source of the tv that you selected to play the DVD through has a sound jack associated with it.

how it sounds your tv's speaker syatem is going out or your rca cords going from the dvd to the tv are broke on the inside.

Is your DVD player hooked up to a surround sound receiver, or directly to your television?

If the TV programs come's up with sound, then is possible that the TV set could be problem free. then cheek the system frequency if it need to be adjust from NTCS, PAL, AUTO MESECAM and so on. Cheek the DVD and VCR if they are in one of the following system settings and adjust the TV set to the settings at which the DVD or VCR is set to. Then you can also cheek if the cable is properly inserted, that is audio to audio and video to video. Nevertheless, if you have properlly connected your cables and set the system frequency to match with each other, and still no sound, then the TV could have sound problem.

Possible courses of sound failure in TV are as follows:-
1 RF stage
2 sound Ics or transistors
3 broken speakers
4 a break down resistor which supplie positive voltage to the sound curcult

If you do not get result you can purchase one video rf converter. Rf converter contains one video input in yellow colour and two audio in red and white colour and one cable connector as outout. Connect dvd output to this converter and tune the program in which place you receive dvd signal.

Did you change your TV input to DVD as well?
