One night i was listening to my ipod and i shut it off for like 10 min. then when i turned it back on the screen was messed up the screen displayed the themes but a strip about 2 mm. thick and going throught the middle of the screen was inactive so i couldn't see some of the things on the screen can you please respond with a solution thanks.

The logic board maybe faulty try a reset menu and centre button at the same time if not send it back to Apple if still under warranty or ukipodrepairs.co.uk if not.

Hello. This is actually a very common problem with the 1st Generation 16GB Touch. It is recommended you do a system restore before these steps, but not necessary.
Step 1. Go into Settings, and click on the General Tab Step 2. Set Auto-Lock to Never
This should keep it from shutting down randomly. If this does not help the problem then it is an issue with hardware.

back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the
left, here's how you reset:
