1 Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds. Then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.
2 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the scanner cover. Check the scanner glass for cracks and the scanner casing for cracks. Close the scanner lid. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Remove both cartridges, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Continue to step 3.
3 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Insert the color cartridge, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power on the AIO.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Repeat step 3 with another color cartridge. If the printer fails again, continue to step 4.
No: Repeat step 3 and install the black/photo cartridge. If both cartridges are installed, attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

Remove the color cartridge and insert the black/photo cartridge. Then close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Repeat step 4 with another black/photo cartridge. If the printer fails again, continue to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Install the color cartridge. If the printer fails, continue to Contacting Lexmark. If the error message does not appear with both cartridges installed, attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

had the same problem "clear carrier jam" here was my fix, the carrier is what the ink cartridge rides on after some inspection i first unplugged the power manually moved ink cartridge to center to inspect unit found a pretty long plastic strip pilled up on the right side attached to a small spring this cable is what tells the printer head where it is.. and runs from the right side attached to spring through the backside of the printer head to the left side. to a metal tab u Will see this is all in-line reinstalled strip, problem solved hope this helps

Since you just replace cartridge it is real possible the carrier cover (grey or purple cover you pushed down when you put cartridge in) is not snap back into place. Lift scanner cover and look at cartridge carriers - they will be on right. You may need flashlight to see. Cover on carrier will likely not be snapped in place properly. Push cover down - may need screwdriver to reach it. Power down and back up - this should fix problem.

SOURCE: Carrier Jam

THis solution I copied from another post. It worked for me as well
First you need to open the printer. Unplug from power. Then lift the scanning device, you can partially remove it when pushing the "hooks" close to where the lid is connected (careful with the cable connections). Then remove three screws in the cover of the bottom part and with some fiddling around you can remove the cover. Again be careful with the cable connections. Of course don't do it if you are worried about warranty or breaking the printer.
The plastic strip has slits at each side to attach to the inside back of printer, on the left side is a down ward facing arrow, the plastic strip feeds through the back middle of the cartridge carrier and then the slits are to be inserted to the metal tab like pieces on the back sides inside the printer on the right side (facing printer) it will look like a small rectangular hole with a longer metal tab like piece sticking out & on the left is a smaller squared like hole with a flat smaller metal like tab which will line up if the plastic strip is feed through the back of the cartridge carrier properly. This should allow the cartridge carrier to glide properly & work as it should, with no more banging.

Carrier jam

From what you are saying you are getting 'clear carrier jam' because of a misalignment. The jam error message is a generic message that applies to a multitude of things. The carrier while is in right, might not be sitting right. A piece of plastic that holds the carrier might be broken or the printhead might be messed up. Anything that causes it to not sit the way it wants will cause that error message.

Carrier Jam(lexmark x5320)

In this case unplug the power supply from the Printer........... 1. Open the Printer Cover.......... 2. Remove both the Catridges from the Printer............ 3. Move the Catridge Carrier which holds the catridge from right to left and from left to right for about 10 times............ 4. Try to make a copy without the catridges........If this works and it gives a Blank Page out............ 5. Insert both the catridges turn the printer off and turn it on again........... 6. Now it should work fine........ Good Luck......

Carrier jam on dell 924 printer??

I was able to fix this issue on my all-in-one 944 printer. What happened was that one of the ink cartridge lids had popped open. The hard part was that the carrier was stuck on the far left side, and I wasn't able to pull it over for easer access. However, I was able to fit a finger in and push the cartridge back down. Then when I turned the printer back on the error went away.

Hope this helps
