Sometimes when I record from Sky+ onto the Lg the recording stops and says recording blocking signals detected. This is not every time however, have you any ideas?
There is CGMS protection on your analog signal. When your recorder see's this, it craps out. You need to purchase a filter to remove this restriction. If you google CGMS filter or enter CGMS on Ebay, you will find suppliers.

I was asking the same question for the LG DR389 , but couldn't find any help . With time on hand I explored the remote control . Try HOME , scroll down to a disk , go right and I got FINALISE , click and it activates . I can now play my DVD on any player or my PC . Good Luck !
I've had "Record-blocking signals detected" on my LG RH398H-M recorder off & on since I bought it almost a year ago. Also other minor problems. LG replaced the recorder 4 times with no change in problems. I became suspicious when I found that when these messages came on I could switch to any channel, digital or analog, even the weather channel, and I would still get the same message for about 5 minutes & then everything would be OK again. Recently I finally got the chance to try something. When the message came on I disconnected the input to the recorder and the message still came on! Again, I got the message "Record-blocking signal detected" with ABSOLUTELY NO INPUT CONNECTED to the recorder!!! Of course it's impossible for the recorder to be receiving blocking signals when there's nothing connected to the inputs. I wrote to LG again and threatened a law suit but so far they've been ignoring me. I would like to hear from anyone who can duplicate the above.
hello..Carol..please refer to your user manual and look in the chapter that includes "how to" maybe you don't have to manually initialize the disks..this will be done automatically...keep it easy...please tell me how it went !...good luck...Ron
