Talk to JVC as I have suggested and this is likely a known problem: loss of any color, picture upside down etc requires a upgrade to correct and I have seen about twenty sets with their name like this with this kind of problem.
Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
Screen looks 3D
Colors don't line up
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed or warped.
TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
well it seems to me that you need to call the manufacturer to see how to reset the pixels for that tv. it seems someone has taking a magnet or something like that to the tv screen
thanks for your detailed description of what happened.
replacing the vertical output i.c will correct the problem.
the reason it failed was bad connections on it.
Usually this problem is associated with no picture other than the
horizontal line. It is an indication of the vertical deflection
amplifier failing.
BUT, since you have a picture, it means you still have the vertical
deflection. However, it could still be a bug in the vertical
amplifier. It could also be a bug in the raster generator.
So,
ONE: Do a hard reset of the tv. Unplug the power cord for 4 hours, then power up again.
TWO: Do the whacking test to make sure it is not a loose connection or cold solder joint somewhere in the works.
THREE: Unplug all the inputs on the back or front of the set and
reinsert them again; do this two or three times. It will make sure of a
good connection. The multiple insertion cuts through any micro
corrosion on the connection points.
FOUR: Try a dvd player into the video inputs. Do you still have the
line? This means the line is coming after the video input circuitry
and is not associated with the tuner or rf input area of the tv.
Then let me know the outcome and we can take is one step further. I
hope you don't have to take it back to Mitsubishi for repairs. These kinds
of symptoms are always hard to find, hence more expensive than you
might expect!
it seems as you need your tubes re-alinged dont get riped off by tv experts saying it will cost you loads if you have a screw driver and a gentl touch just re focus your red green and blue-simple cost you nothing
