Question about Maytag PAV2300 Top Load Washer

Maytag Pav2300 top loader balance problem

Every spin cycle the machine jumps and bucks around the laundry room. The machine is 2 years old and never had a problem until now. we first thought that it was a loading issue with to much weight on one side of the drum but even if the load is adjusted the machine will continue to bounce. We have confirmed that the machine is level and the lags are adjusted correctly. the drum was stif to move side to side so we removed the front cover and confirmed that all the balancing springs were in place and intact, we also lifted the drum and cleaned the nylon surface that the drum rides on which made a big differance to the ease the drum moves from side to side now but the machine now jumps more vilently than before. with only a few items in the machine it seems to run not to bad but we wil never keep up to the dirty clothes our kids make at this pace.

Experiencing the same issue with a PAV3300...is that covered under the SF-26-756 you mentioned?

  • grensan Nov 26, 2007

    Grensan:

We have the same probs with the model PAV2000. All springs are in place, the loads are balanced and the legs adjusted per the manual.

Is This model possibly covered under the Service bulletin" you mentioned in the other responses????

I have exactly the same problem with a PAV3300 and tried fixes like levelling and adjusting the load - but that did not work. I have also noticed that the water level seems lower than usual but I am guessing that is a symptom of the same problem.

Same issue here. Tub goes to right rear corner when spinning.

The only sites I have found that have that kit include a new base also. (160.00) do you know of anywhere I can get the snubber and springs only?

    Thanks

I have had the same problem with my washer years. I have been waiting for this junk to die so I can replace it with anything but a maytag.

Bigmur, you need the snubber kit for this washer. There was a service flash out on this model, SF-26-756. The kit includes the snubber and 6 new springs. Condition was, excessive vibration during spin, basket leans to one side. Kit number, 12002357. Check with your retailer...this repair may be covered. Catriver..post back

My husband purchased a Maytag Neptune front load washer model # MAH8700AWW about 5 years ago. The washer works great and we have never had any problems until recently. We just had pergo floors installed in...

you may need to put some anti vibration shock pads under the legs or some two sided tape to put on the feet to help secure it to the floor it may be slipping on the new floor surface

Washer walks on spin cycle, leveled unit and put carpet under it and it still walks on spin cycle only. I have had this washer for 7 years, just started recently doing this.

This is a sign of machine out of balance. If it has been OK for some time, until now, I would look at the balance springs (usually three of four holding to bowl to the outside of the machine, and see if one has come off, or is rusted through. Either fix or replace.
Does the machine spin just fine with no washing in?

Machine does not agitate, will spin and rinse including.

Hi,does the top part of the agitator move freely when you move it by hand?Or does it catch,if it does not catch the the cogs other wise known as dog ears are worn out.Do not believe the little cogs that catch inside the top part of the agitator can be replaced. You may have to replace the whole agitator unit on some models they are around 40.00.

Knocking sound in the spin cycle off balance.

The motor switch that is mounted on the motor may need replacing. The knocking could mean that the "run" winding is cutting off momentarily, and running on the "start" winding of the motor. I dont know about a 22 year old model, but in most "near modern" machines, the switch has a plastic actuator that is pushed when the motor obtains near-run speed, that plastic may be worn or the actuator part on the motor may be at fault. If you replace the motor, you usually get this switch as part of the deal.
