Question about IBIS Software Play It By Ear (ALFPBE1)

1 Answer

Play It By Ear problems

I have used PLAY IT BY EAR (Ibis Software) for many years & it's a winner. I see that it is no longer available. I am trying to install it on a Win 98 computer for my students to use, it it will not install. What can I do? I have only Version 1.1. I'm sure there must be a later version before it was discontinued.

Hi musitech, it should load. Try putting the disk into the a drive, the go into dos via the windows programs.... type a: (i think ear.exe?). it should just play right off off the disk.it's weird but it worked that way for me. it is a great program, i bought play it by ear in the box, made mayself extra copies of it, and now i can't find it just when i need it most lol. good luck sendanotetodave at hotmail.com

My tascam us144mk2 works great only problem is my headphones only play in left ear i have a pair with 1/8" plug so i bought a 1/4" adapter and only have sound in one ear i've tried multiple...

Double check that the adapter you bought is designed for stereo. The easiest way to check this is count the number of metal bands you can see on the adapter, stereo headphones will have 3 metal bands separated by 2 plastic bands, whereas mono will have 2 metal bands separated by a plastic band.
If you accidentally bought a mono adapter, this will cause sound to only play in one ear.

hi,
may be ur dvds laser pickup unit have some problem. its Lance may be become dirty. first try to clean it. for that u have to open the dvd player. u can see the laser pickup in side the mechanism of ur dvd player. clean it Lance using an ear dud. don't use pressure on it or do not use any type of solutions. clean only with ear bud. after cleaning insert disk and the check it . if problem remains u have to replace the laser pickup unit.
if u are not aware of opening ur player. bought Lance cleaning disc from market if available.inset it in ot ur dvd player. it will clean laser pickup unit to some extend. remove the disk and then check it.

On/off button for Zen

Take it apart. Just google how to do it, i found a post with pictures and took mine apart without much trouble (just had to buy a $5 small screwdriver kit at radioshack). the switch for the lock is actually a metal piece that is moved by that **** piece of plastic. You can move the switch easily to where you want it and put the plastic piece in the correct position. -Stoney
