try changing the needle make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case make sure the bobbin is not over filled make sure the bobbin is not damaged it's very possible that the machine could be slightly out of time

Turn the power off and replace the needle with a new one, making sure the install is as described in the manual for your machine - on most newer models, this is with the flat side of the needle shank facing the back of the machine.
Before turning the power back on, raise the needle to it's highest position. Remove the face plate, bobbin and bobbin case. Clean the area in and around the shuttle from lint and/or threads that may be tangled there.
